Local athletes will play in All Star game

Two seniors from Colfax and three from Elk Mound were chosen to play in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All Star games June 14-15 at Just A Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.

Playing for the Division 4 North boys are Lane Olson of Colfax, while Nick Heit and Dakota Tarnow from Elk Mound were also selected. Their game against the South team will be at 4:00 June 15. On the girls Division 4 North team, playing from Colfax will be Ryleigh Prochnow and from Elk Mound Josie Hayes. They will take the court on June 14, also at 4:00. There is also a game for Division 1, 2, 3 and 5 players.

The games are used as a fundraiser for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) organization. Players are nominated by their respective high school coaches and all players and coaches involved in the game are asked to raise money from donations to support the cause. Last year, $160,000 was raised with proceeds going to the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center and the Pediatric Cancer Research Wing on the UW-Madison campus.

Anyone interested in donating to Lane or Ryleigh may contact the Colfax High School at 715-962-3155 for information, and for Nick, Dakota and Josie you may call the Elk Mound High School at 715-879-5521. You may also go to the WBCA website to donate to each individual.

Other Dunn-St. Croix Conference athletes participating are Logan Wolf and Kyle Webb from Elmwood for the boys and Marah Boyer from Plum City and McKayla Brunner from Elmwood for the girls, all on the Division 5 South team.
