Colfax music department presents Spotlight Night
COLFAX — Over 20 different performances were given by students of Colfax High School during the Spotlight Night talent show held in the Martin Anderson gym April 5.
Members of the audience were allowed to vote for their favorite performance at the end of the evening and the top three chosen were Samantha Simonson and Ellie Verdon with a duet of the song “Wagon Wheel”, Jordon Johnson with a vocal solo of “How Great Thou Art” and Abbie Greenwell with a vocal solo of an original composition of “Wait For You”. Simonson and Verdon, who were the emcees for the evening, were chosen as the Fan Favorite.
Other vocal solos were performed by Andy Buckley, Becca Nelson, Ashley Sault, Heidi Lieffort and Natalie Dworak. Musical instrument solos came from Reed Gibson on the timpani, Katy Toycen on the saxophone and Bayli Vacho on the marimba. Allison Yingst performed a dance solo while Kendra Dennis and Marissa Prince entertained the audience with a dance duet. Skits were performed by David Blanchard, Buckley, Daniek Schneider, Sara Schmock, Nicole Rassbach, Yingst, Delanie Anderson, Joseph Verdon, Tucker Hovde and Samantha McCoy.
In addition, Greenwell and Lori Strangfeld played a piano/vocal song together, a band consisting of Katie Christoffel, Greenwell, Dworak and Anderson named “Sixth Sense” performed and Georgette Wendt, Strangfeld, Dworak, Lieffort, Emily Halpin, Nikiesha Myers, Bethany Ferry, Nelson and Anderson sang and showed off their cup stacking skills. The jazz band and show choir also performed several songs.
An auction took place during and after the show which included quilts and baskets of goodies. All proceeds from the evening will go to the music department to allow students to attend band camp this summer.
