Sand Creek Chatter – 3-27-2013

Vickie Meinen met her sisters-in-law, Geri Schuster from Hartland, WI and Jean Seckora of Bloomer, on March 13 at the Bohemian Ovens for noon lunch. After lunch, they went over to the Rose Garden to play “Tick” with Isabel Schuster (Geri’s mother-in-law) The bonus of the day was “coffee and pie” together before returning to their respective homes.

Michael and Kelly Nelson, Zoe and Noah traveled to Palm Springs, CA to join Kenny and Sharon Nelson in California during the last week of their stay. Deb, Brad and Daine Carr also came down to visit and they celebrated Kenny and Kelly’s birthdays.

The local girls of Chetek High School with the Class of 1962 had lunch together at the Sand Creek Café on March 21. Those included were: Carol Anderson, Anita Jenson, Ingrid Rothenbueler, Anita Nashlund, Karen Boortz, and Carol Wall. Claudia Wold from the Class of 1963, joined them as well.

Glenn and Margie Anderson, Carol Redman, Cory and John Schneider went to the Colfax School Play “Alice in Wonderland” on Friday evening, March 22. Glenn and Margie’s grandson, Daniel, played the part of the doormouse and their grandson, Andrew, worked the lights.

Jess McFarland (Travis’ wife) came to the home of Vickie Meinen on Saturday, March 16 to do some quilting with Vickie.

A Sand Creek home was heavily damaged early Monday morning, March 18. The David Hetke home is located just east of Sand Creek off of County HWY M. The fire destroyed the interior of the home, but the garage and a small living area may be salvageable.

Maxine Madison, former resident of Sand Creek and now of Marshfield, had a liver transplant two weeks ago in Madison and is still located there before transferring to a swing-bed in Marshfield.

Sandy Anderson attended a Basket-Weaving Retreat at the Arrowhead Bible Camp near New Auburn on the weekend of March 14-15-16.

Lou Ann Gilberts recently spent a few days with her daughter, Krista Mars in Menomonie when she was recovering from sinus surgery.

Sue Piotrowski received news that her son, Rocky, was in a Minocqua hospital on Sunday, March 24.

Sandy Anderson, Anita Jenson and Lana Anderson, attended the New Auburn Community Easter concert at the Chetek Lutheran church on March 23.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt provided by the Easter Bunny will be held at the Old School on Saturday morning, at 10 a.m. on March 30.

Tessa and Abigail Gustum are playing in the Orchestra Pit, Hannah Gustum is doing make-up and Sam Gustum is assisting with the presentation of “Procula’s Vision: The Passion of Christ” on March 28th-29th at 7:30 pm and March 29th at 3:00 pm at the State Theater in Eau Claire.
