Doucette concludes season with Saints at NCAA tourney

In her second season as a member of the Division III St. Scholastica Saints women’s basketball team, Colfax graduate Sammy Doucette saw her team’s season end in the opening game of the NCAA tournament to Cornell College of Iowa.

It was the first appearance in school history for the Saints in the tournament and it was also Cornell’s first appearance as they won 76-54 in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Doucette scored four points in the game on a three pointer and 1 of 2 free throws in 20 minutes of play. She also grabbed three rebounds, added two assists and one steal.

The Saints were 8-6 for fourth place in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and were 13-15 overall. Doucette started five of those games and played in the rest, averaging 21.4 minutes a game. She averaged 5.5 points a game and scored 139 points on 46 field goals including 21 triples. She shot 77% from the foul line going 25 for 32, snared 99 rebounds, added 65 assists, 23 steals and one blocked shot.
