Brooklynn Dresel competes at iPOP in Los Angeles

A story this past fall in the Colfax Messenger informed readers on Colfax sixth grade student Brooklynn Dresel and her opportunity to compete in the International Presentation of Performers (iPOP) talent competition Jan. 3-6 in Los Angeles,CA.

After receiving many donations through family, friends and businesses for the trip, Brooklynn made her way to sunny California, and as one of just two performers selected from Wisconsin, had the opportunity to showcase her talents.

“There were over 650 performers from all over the United States and Mexico,” she said. “I had the chance to meet some of the actors from the Disney Channel which was pretty amazing because most of them got their start from iPop. I competed in the iAct Competition where I performed a commercial, a scene and a monologue in front of over 80 agents and casting directors. I believe I did rather well and I received several call backs that we are currently pursuing. In fact, I was recently offered a contract with one of the management agencies and I’m excited to see where it leads,” she added.

As of now, Brooklynn plans on becoming involved in local entertainment venues including the Eau Claire Children’s Theater.

“If I ever get the opportunity to return to iPOP, I would love to,” Brooklynn said. “It was a wonderful experience and I had so much fun. I feel like I gained a lot of confidence from it. I met many cool people and made a lot of new friends. It made me realize that this is what I really want to do—be in the entertainment business. I don’t know where I will end up but so far I feel like I have made a good impression on the right people and it has encouraged me to keep learning more about acting,” she concluded.
