MADISON — Although he lost both of his matches on the Kohl Center mat, Colfax freshman Brady Simonson ended his season with a conference, regional and sectional championship as a member of the Bloomer-Colfax co-op team.
Simonson lost his quarter final match at the state meet Feb. 22 via a pin in the third period to Gunner Leisner of Oconto Falls, then put up quite a fight before losing in overtime 4-2 to Wittenberg-Birnamwood wrestler Ben Vosters. Simonson finished his season with a 35-10 record.
“I wasn’t all that nervous wrestling in front of so many people,” Simonson said. “I’ve wrestled at national meets in front of big crowds and you learn to block things out and concentrate on your match. I wrestled some pretty good kids and I want to work hard and get back next year and win some matches,” he added.
