Sand Creek Chatter – 2-20-2013

Jonathan and Alicia Wendlandt and Elise, and Lillian Wendlandt celebrated Dave and Jamison Wendlandt’s birthdays at the Dave and Janice Wendlandt home on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 3.

Karen Walker of Menominee, Michigan and Mary Knutson attended the memorial service for Ila Madison at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer on Feb. 9.

Dawn Knutson hosted a birthday celebration for her husband, Tim, son, Owen and daughter, Claire with the following guests: Karen Walker from Michigan, Mary Knutson, Scott and Heidi Kodesh, Dave and Carol Busta. Tim made homemade pizza for the family on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 10.

Ann Wicken brought spaghetti and had supper with Avis Hanson on Wednesday evening, Feb. 13 after which they played Yahtzee together.

John Anderson and the children went home to Illinois for a couple of days and then returned to Sand Creek to spend another week with Glenn and Margie Anderson.

Toby and Judy Horn traveled to Woodbury, MN on Friday. Toby and his son, Michael took in an ice fishing tournament at Orchard Lake in Lakeville on Friday afternoon. Then on Saturday, Toby and Judy attended their grandson, Jonathan’s basketball game.

Sue Piotrowski, Lillian Wendlandt, Ruby Riewestahl and Thelma Waterhouse attended the funeral service for Rachel Batchelder held at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie on Friday, Feb. 15 Rachel was the daughter of Elaine Froiland who formerly lived in the Sand Creek area and attended New Hope Lutheran church. Elaine was also a resident at the Morningside Apts. in Sand Creek awhile back.

Mike and Marian Brasher of Eau Claire, visited Marian’s mother, Lillian Wendlandt, on Saturday, Feb. 16.

There was an excellent turn-out for the Valentine Dance at the School on Feb. 16 with every age taking part and having a good time. The band, Second Wind, has quite a following coming from as far as Hudson and neighboring towns.

Mark Gilberts was home for the long weekend from Mundelien, Illinois visiting his dad, Snort and sister, Cindy Gilberts.

On Sunday, Snort, Mark and Cindy Gilberts visited Ray and Ardith Gilberts at Milestone, an assisted living place in Eau Claire, where they have already been located for a week.

Jerry and Becky Loftus and Lance met for supper on Sunday evening at the home of Grandma Rose in Elk Mound to celebrate Grandma Rose’s birthday and Lacey’s 21st birthday. Interesting news is that Lacey has been nominated for the Honors Program at the Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. Congratulations, Lacey.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Delores Madison, whose funeral service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer on Monday, February 18.
