Colfax Health and Rehab – 2-6-2013
Goodbye January, hello February. We decorated the tables and doors with hearts and flowers of red and pink to usher in the month in which Valentines are given. This is also the month for Chocolate Lovers. Some might say every month is for Chocolate Lovers.
On Monday we had a resident Auction. Many people donate items like jewelry, clothing, perfume, lotions, and puzzles. This week Kathy Irwin breezed in during the Auction with several Puzzles. The Auctioneer had them sold before Kathy got back out to her car. Thanks Kathy – that was fun!
On Tuesday we had Devotions, Reading and Exercise in the morning. Melaine the dietary Manager talked with residents who would like to help plan some special meals with some of their own favorite recipes. Because of the bad roads, the Activity Department showed a movie and popcorn instead of Bingo and Happy Hour.
On Wednesday morning Pastor Jason Taylor from Otter Creek Christian Fellowship Church led the Church Service. Delores Huber played the piano as residents sang their favorite hymns. Linnea was here to help with transportation. She comes to volunteer two times a week for church services and sing-a-longs. She also plays cards with residents. The dinner menu was one of our favorites. It consisted of Spaghetti Pie with Garlic Stick, Green Beans or Cauliflower and Chocolate Cream Pie for Desert. Spaghetti Pie was a resident recipe that has been incorporated into our regular scheduled menu. The afternoon program was a music presentation by Rich Schroeder. His music was so beautiful.
On Thursday morning the Volleyball players lined up and played hard. The Red team made the most points so technically they won, but just coming out to play makes everyone a winner. In the afternoon we had our Monthly Resident Council Meeting. The residents are very anxious to see the progress on the new building.
On Friday morning Veda and Linnea were here and helped with the Gospel sing. Julie and Glen and Delores led the residents in song. We played Dime Bingo in the afternoon. We had Coffee and Cookies and good conversation after bingo. Friday was also “Wear Red Day” to support the fight against Heart Disease.
On Saturday and Sunday we had our regular REX classes. The weather was warmer so everyone was happier.
On Sunday the Super Bowl was very exciting. That is about it for this week here in the land of Colfax where the men are strong and the women are too!
