Colfax Health and Rehab – 1-23-2013
It is the third week in January already, and we are staying busy and warm.
On Sunday morning residents had scrambled eggs, bacon and toast, hot cereal and juice. What a good way to start the day. Leona Ubbelohde visited with many people who look forward to her cheerful smile and kind words. Grace Lutheran Church was broadcast at 10:30. It was a peaceful morning. Many residents went to REX class at 1 o’clock. Later in the day the Divisional Playoffs continued with less than desired results. Family and friends visited many residents. Some families join their loved one for dinner which made the day even more pleasant.
On Monday morning we had devotions, reading and an exercise class. The regular scheduled REX classes at 1 and at 6 were very well attended. After the Christmas goodies we are all trying to get back in shape. In the afternoon Susie Hill joined us. We made dog bones. This is an activity that many enjoy. It’s fun to get your hands in the warm dough and roll out the dog bone shapes. Dogs love these treats. They are made of all natural ingredients and smell good enough to eat-but we don’t!
On Tuesday morning we had devotions, reading and an exercise class. Dinner on Tuesday was Western beef and gravy with onion roasted potatoes, candied carrots or stewed tomatoes, pudding or ice-cream. In the afternoon Veda joined residents as they gathered for Bingo and at 3 o’clock Happy Hour started. Wine was added to the bar selections and has been well received.
On Wednesday morning Pastor George Schweitzer, from Bethany Lutheran Church in Colfax, led the Church Service which was a communion service. Deloris played the piano and Linnea was here to help where needed. The ministers who lead the Worship Service bless our residents more than they will ever know. On Wednesday afternoon Yvonne Brunstad treated us to a program she called “Relativity Speaking”. Yvonne put on different hats as she told stories about members of her family and funny things they did and said. We could relate since we all have colorful characters in our family too!
On Thursday morning the Volleyball teams lined up. Blues team scored more points. Reds scored more laughter, so both teams won! After Dinner we had the pleasure of listening to the melodies of JC Colby. He is so talented and has a voice like an angel, who yodels.
On Friday we showed movies. The Reminisce Memories DVD’s on the 40’s was the favorite. The 40’s were so important. So many things that happened in the 40’s have had an effect on our lives today. That is the best of what happened here in the land of Colfax where the Men are bringing home the bacon and the Women are cooking it.
