B-C grapplers drop HON dual to Hayward; lose matches at O-F meet

With just four wrestlers winning their individual matches, the Bloomer-Colfax team lost 50-27 at Hayward Jan. 3 in a Heart O’ North dual.

The match started at 195 pounds which resulted in a forfeit win for the Hurricanes. The next three B-C wrestlers lost by pins including Stephen Snyder at 220 pounds, Ryan Ratcliff at 285 and Justin Wachtendonk at 106. Tucker Hovde snapped the Hayward streak with a 5-0 decision at 113 and Brady Simonson followed with a forfeit win at 120, putting B-C down 24-9. Hayward upped their lead when B-C dropped the next two matches with David Blanchard losing via a pin at 126 pounds and Hunter Hetke losing a 12-0 decision at 132. Robby Rands earned six points at 138 pounds for B-C with a pin at 2:46 to put the score at 34-15 before Brady Hetke lost 14-6 at 145 pounds.

With Hayward now up 38-15, B-C’s 152 pounder Dan Thorgerson put his opponent to the mat in just 0:25 seconds to get them closer at 38-21 but Jon Thorgerson lost by a pin at 160 pounds. Tommy Johnson won by a forfeit for B-C at 170 but Jake Floodquist ended the night by getting pinned, giving Hayward their 50th point.

B-C wrestlers lose four matches at O-F meet

Competing against four different teams in dual meets Saturday Jan. 5 in Osseo-Fairchild, the Bloomer-Colfax wrestling team had their closest match of the day, losing 42-33 against Mondovi, and lost another close one 45-30 to Independence/Gilmanton. Facing off against a team consisting of four schools, B-C lost 49-24 to Osseo-Fairchild/Altoona/Augusta/Fall Creek, and dropped a 54-27 match against Black River Falls. B-C’s Robby Rands won all four of his matches on two pins, a decision and a forfeit at the 138 class. Matt Shaw also had a good meet, winning three matches, two by pins.
