B-C Wrestlers compete at Northern Badger
Four individuals scored points for the Bloomer-Colfax wrestling team at the Northern Badger tournament held Dec. 28-29 in River Falls. B-C placed 11th of 12 teams in Division I with 36 points.
Brady Simonson placed sixth with a record of 4-2 at 120 pounds, losing his first match 12-3. He came back with a pin in his second match, then lost by a major decision and ended the tournament with three straight pins, including the final one at 1:43 over his Northwood/Solon Springs opponent Kenny Thompson. Simonson was awarded 28 team points for his efforts.
Robby Rands, wrestling at 138 pounds, earned four team points by finishing with a 2-2 record and winning his fourth and final match with a 9-6 decision over Cumberland’s Trystin Adams. Dan Thorgerson scored three team points by winning his first match at the 152 pound bracket via pin at 2:15 against Brody Peterson of Baldwin-Woodville, but he lost his next two to end his run. And adding a point to the team total was 170 pounder Tommy Johnson who lost his first two matches by pins and came back to win his final one with a 6-5 decision against Flambeau’s Matt Anderson.
