Colfax Health and Rehab News – 1-2-2013

We had been preparing for Christmas all month. Christmas week is here at last.

At 10:30 the Church Service was broadcast from Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Leona Ubbelohde came to share her words of comfort and joy. The afternoon event was a Packer football game. The Packers played Tennessee. Many residents cheered them on and enjoyed the final score when the Packers won. The REX Classes were at 1PM and 6PM. Many residents look forward to these classes, especially since we have all had so many tempting Christmas treats.

Monday was Christmas Eve. Family visits and an afternoon movie called “The Christmas Wife” were some of the things residents enjoyed. Sue Hill joined everyone for the afternoon visiting and serving refreshments. A special Christmas Eve Dinner and Supper kept residents in a festive mood.

Tuesday was Christmas Day. Many residents went out for the day to spend the Holiday with their families and friends. The wonderful Christmas Day Dinner was served to residents and families who joined them. The meal consisted of Baked Ham with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Buttered Squash, Lefsa and Rolls followed by Lemon Meringue Pie. Wednesday morning Pastor Taylor led the Church Service. He always has an inspiring message. Deloris Huber was our pianists. Deloris volunteers two times a week to accompany Ministers and Gospel Singers. She brightens the room with her smiles and we are thankful to have her music. Linnea Thompson was here to help where needed. Taek Krieger was here in the afternoon to help with Beauty Boutique. Residents were treated with perfumed hand lotions and beautifully polished finger nails.

On Thursday morning the volleyball players had fun. It is so good to have the exercise, but the very best part is the laughter and fellowship. In the afternoon the South dining room was filled with residents and family. Rich Schroeder and his beautiful music entertained us. We asked him to play the “Happy Birthday Song”. He was surprised when we sang to him. It was Rich’s 42nd birthday. We can always find something to celebrate, especially Birthdays. Beverages and decorated Christmas cookies were served. Bounce ball REX Class was well attended as usual. Friday morning soft white snow added a layer of white to the already beautiful White Christmas we were having. Loretta Logslett led the Rosary for our Catholic residents. Julie and Glen led the Gospel sing, while Deloris accompanied them on the piano. They are a blessing. They are here every week “come rain or shine”. After dinner and REX residents gathered at the bingo table to see if they could be big winners. Of course everyone wins. It’s not so much what you win, but how much you win! The weekend was quieter and more peaceful for everyone. REX, Hollywood and socializing with friends made the day and evening special. Those are some of the things we enjoyed here in the land of Colfax, where the men are hardworking and the women are always working hard!
