Vikings pummel Panthers

HAMMOND — They may not have shut them out in any of the four quarters of play but they came mighty close when the Colfax girls held the St. Croix Central Panthers to under five points in each of those quarters while taking a 55-14 win Dec. 21 on Central’s home court.

Nine three pointers by seven different players helped the Viking’s cause as they held leads of 15-3 after the first quarter, 27-5 at the half and 42-9 at the end of the third quarter. Dannielle Dachel scored all eight of her points in the game in the first quarter as she hit her first three shots, a triple, a deuce and another triple, and Mallie Doucette came up with nine of her game high 13 in the first half by canning a pair of long balls and going three of four from the foul line.  Ryleigh Prochnow, Chey Olson, Alexis Rudi, Dempsey Fogarty and McKayla Harmon all connected from downtown once in the win.

Hannah Hover added eight points while Taylor Shipman collected a team leading five rebounds, Fogarty and Hover both had three assists and Hover was the leader in steals with four.

“This game was very similar to our last couple of games,” coach Joe Doucette said. “We were able to get ahead early and stay ahead. We defended very well and made some big shots. Our schedule gets a lot tougher in the next few weeks and we will really be tested.”
