Mau has successful week for Blugolds
EAU CLAIRE — For those of you who want to watch another level of basketball besides high school, you might want to get over to Eau Claire and take in a UW men’s game this season. Colfax graduate Lewis Mau is having quite a season so far, cracking the starting lineup as a sophomore.
Mau, a 6’3 guard was named the UW-Eau Claire Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26-Dec. 2 with his performance in three games. Starting with the game against Loras College (Iowa), Mau scored 11 points and led the team with six rebounds in a 71-58 win, then in an 84-70 win over St. Scholastica, he scored career highs in points with 21 and assists with eight and again led the team in rebounds with eight. He followed that up by besting his highest point total with 23 against UW-La Crosse and tied for a team high six rebounds as the Blugolds lost 84-69. In the three games, Mau shot 45.7 percent from the field (16 for 35) and showed the free throw skills we saw so often when he played for Colfax, going 15 for 18 for 83 percent.
