Lew will lead EM football in 2013
ELK MOUND — Elk Mound didn’t have to look very far to find a new football coach for next season. After working as an assistant coach under long time coach Dan Pedersen for many years, Dave Lew will take over the reigns.
Lew has been a coach and teacher in the Elk Mound district for the past 11 years, according to athletic director Paul Weber. He currently teaches middle school social studies and coaches in the basketball and football programs and is extremely active in youth sports in the Elk mound community. Lew is a native of the Thorp area and worked for the Marathon and Independence school districts before coming to Elk Mound.
“I am looking forward to the challenge,” Lew said. “Coach Pedersen left me with a lot of talented players to work with.”
Lew hopes to follow in Pedersen’s footsteps by winning the first game of his varsity career just like Pedersen did back in 1974 when the Mounders face Chetek-Weyerheauser next August. If he picks up the win, he will need only 261 more to break Pedersen’s record!
