Elk Mound holds fall sports banquets

ELK MOUND — Athletes from all three fall sports at Elk Mound High School recently were honored at their individual banquets.

After winning the conference and a Level 1 playoff game, football players received awards Nov. 12 as head coach Dan Pedersen presented at his final banquet.

Earning the Most Valuable Player award was senior running back/linebacker  Jordan Klemp. The Mr. Hustle award went to senior receiver/defensive back Nate Mack, Best Blocker was senior offensive/defensive lineman Ryan Bridges, Best Tacklers were Mack and senior linebacker/running back Will Miller and the Scout Team Defensive player was senior defensive/offensive lineman Josiah Bauer while the Scout Team Offensive player was sophomore Zach Mohr.

Volleyball awards were presented Nov. 19 with Kaysi Meindel receiving the Most Valuable Player award, Maddy Polden earned the Hustle award, Katie Bergh was Most Improved, Katie Johnson won the Fireman award and the Coaches award from coach Donna Weix went to Becca Kopp, Kylynn Simon, Meindel, Polden, Amanda Ward, Ali Hill-Zurbuchen, Bergh and Anne Kendzierski. All award winners were seniors except for Johnson who is a junior.

Cross Country award winners included senior Emma Hayes as the girls’ Most Valuable runner and junior Ben Holzwarth as the boys’ Most Valuable, while Most Improved went to junior Danae Sternecker for the girls and freshman RJ Cheek for the boys.
