Sand Creek Chatter – 10-31-2012

Carol Gustum and Swanee Rasmussen accompanied Tom and Sue Gustum, Abigail, Melvin and Lisa to Eau Claire on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21 to attend “Fiddler on the Roof” held at the State Theater where Tom and Sue’s other 3 children, including: Hannah, who played the part of Fruma-Sarah, Samuel, playing the part of the Russian Constable and Tessa was the Fiddler.

George and Delores Vlcek attended the wedding of their nephew, Joshua Stratton to Miranda Wick held at Messiah Lutheran church in Eau Claire on Sat. Oct. 20, followed by a reception in Osseo at Grand Occasions.

Siblings, Gerald and Ruby Stratton and Edythe Olson of Cottage Grove were Oct. 20th overnight guests of George and Vlcek with Sunday plans to dance at The Pines in Bloomer because the Rhythm Playboys band members had played at George and Delores’ wedding 50 years ago so they included their sons and families to attend with them for this Sunday weekend dance opportunity.

Marcia Anderson and Orelia Anderson took Avis Hanson to the Sunshine Café in New Auburn on Oct. 20, where they met Joan Tremblay for lunch and reminiscing. Then Marcia took them on a driving tour all around the Sand Creek countryside.

Ron and Mary Keller of Hopkins, MN spent this past week-end with Mary’s mother, Mae Sparby.

Pastor Michael Peterson of Lindstrom, MN enjoyed a week-end visit with Gene and Bonnie Peterson.

Juel Smith, Lisa Swanson and Thelma Waterhouse, attended the funeral of a relative, Stanley McIntyre in Boyceville at Trinity Lutheran church on Monday, Oct. 22.

Gail Toycen Weyerhaeuser of Eatonville, WA, arrived at the Toycen-Favero farm on the evening of Oct. 21 to spend the week with her mother, Elaine Toycen and to visit other relatives and friends. Craig and Holly Toycen, Isaiah and Adrian joined them at the Dan Toycen home one evening for supper. Gail visited a former teacher and other good friends, so it was a special week for Gail.

Alice Rae recently returned to Scotland after a 3-week visit with her son, David and Sally Rae and family.

Dave and Janice Wendlandt, Lillian Wendlandt and Judy Gronning traveled to Madison on Oct. 25 to attend the National Honor Choir event in which Jamison Wendlandt sang in the National Honors Choir Concert on Thursday evening. They all returned to Sand Creek on Friday evening, Oct. 26.

Ben Weyerhaeuser came to see his grandmother, Elaine Toycen and other family members on Oct. 27. Enroute he had the opportunity to spend an evening with his cousin, John and Elizabeth Toycen in the Twin Cities. Ben’s plans were to return to Portland, Oregon on Oct. 30th.

Kimberley Harthun and her 10-year old daughter, Avery, arrived in Sand Creek on Oct. 24th to visit her mother, Carol Redmann. While here, they went to the Twin Cities for a day. Kimberley also had the opportunity to spend time with special friends in the area, including the maid of honor from her wedding. They returned home to Appleton on Sunday.

Carol Anderson and her four grandchildren, Joshua, Connor, Grace and Abby Nielsen enjoyed supper with Glenn and Margie Anderson on the evening of Oct. 27.

Nathan and Amy Vlcek and Hunter, George and Delores Vlcek, attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Bub and Sandy Homm on Oct. 27.

A good support group of the Hanson family went to Pittsville last Saturday to watch Hayden and Hudson Frey play for Regis High School when they won the game. Supporters were: Scott and Jolene Frey, Kurt and Janene Hanson, Ryan and Nicole, Jean Hanson, Judy Gronning, Brad and Tricia Hanson and Brayden and cousin, Joshua Hanson.

Jerry Loftus and son, Lance Loftus have a mutual birthday on October 25. They were honored by quite a number of friends.

They began early on Wednesday evening when Grandma Rose and friend, Larry, invited Jerry and Becky and Lance to their home for pizza.

Then on the day of Oct. 25, Carol Gerner, Jim Welch, Trish Kelm, Lance’s friend, Alyssa all joined Jerry and Becky with pie and birthday cake and the following day Brandon Kahl came over for spaghetti and cake. It was a big 3-day birthday for Jerry and Lance this year.

Toby and Judy Horn attended their grandson, Mitchell’s confirmation on Saturday evening at King of Kings Lutheran church in Woodbury, MN Afterward, they enjoyed a lasagna dinner at Michael and Betsy Horn’s home.
