Sand Creek Chatter – 10-24-2012

Two weeks ago, Mary and Bob Hanson visited their daughter, Katie Lois and family in Oconomowoc, WI. On Friday and Saturday, Katie and Mary attended Women of Faith in Milwaukee. Saturday, Bob joined son-in-law, Matt Lois and grandson Adam and Adam’s Cub Scout den in hiking at Devil’s Lake in the Wisconsin Dells. On Sunday, Mary and Bob flew to Boston where they were met by Mary’s brother, David and his wife, Mary, who took them to their home in Vermont for a week of seeing the sights there. Bob and Mary returned to Milwaukee on Saturday and Sand Creek on Sunday. On Monday, they joined Jim and Jess Hanson’s family in celebrating Josh Hanson’s 13th birthday.

Avis Hanson celebrated her birthday on Saturday, Oct. 13 with her family. Susan brought supper to the Morningside Lounge. All the children came that included: Susan and Rich Carlson, Bill and Mary Hanson, Pete and Wyatt Hanson and their friend, Brad, Blaine and Jeanene Edington, Izabella, Larien and Maurice. Later in the evening Janette Hanson came and had coffee to complete a very nice day.

Jerry Patrow was a patient at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire last week.

Lois Aasen had a full Saturday on October 13 when she attended two birthday parties in Bloomer and then went to her great-nephew’s wedding in Turtle Lake.

Tim and Dawn Knutson traveled to Portland, Oregon with some friends where they stayed for a couple nights during last week.

Sandy Anderson sold her leather goods, purses, birch bark gifts and scarves at the Chetek High School Craft Fair on October 20th.

Nancy Erickson had a nice display of photo cards for sale at the Craft Fair at Chetek High School on October 20th.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Adeline Runkle whose funeral was scheduled at the New Hope Lutheran Pine Creek Church at 11 o’clock on Monday, October 22.

Noah Taylor, an award winning composer, wrote band music pieces for the Tri-State-Honors Band held on October 18. The students that play in these bands come from Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. It was held on the campus of UW-Superior. The chosen students rehearsed that day and presented a concert that evening. Among the participating students from this area included: Jamison Wendlandt, Isaiah Jensen, Erik Grover, Quinn Steiner, Zach Erickson, Emma Martin and Hannah Roth.

Parents who attended the evening concert were Scott and Amanda Jensen who drove their car and Janice Wendlandt and Jean Hanson traveled with them. Others were: Band Director, Amanda Ovren, Earl and Kathy Grover, Sherri and Rodney Roth, Linda Marten, Mike Steiner, Clay and Chloe and other family friends. It was a very nice event.

Dan Dietsche of Mpls. was home with Doris and Herb Tallman this past weekend.

Ashley Keller and her fiancé, Nate met Ashley’s grandmother, Mae Sparby at Bloomer for brunch at the Bohemian Ovens on Friday, Oct. 19.

Lou Ann Gilberts took Joanie Williams to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester on Friday, Oct. 19.

Elaine Toycen and Swanee Rasmussen visited Anna Madison at The Maplewood in Bloomer on Friday afternoon when they had coffee together and had a nice visit.

Dick and Elaine Clemmens visited Dick’s cousin, Jim and Sharon Hansen when Jim and Julie Mendesh of North Branch, MN joined them to go out for dinner on Saturday. The cousins had grown up together so really enjoyed their special day.

A number of Sand Creek folk took in the Lutefisk dinner at the Chetek Lutheran church last Saturday. Familiar faces were: Sharon Hoveland, Glenn Anderson, Carol Anderson, Bob Hanson, Kathie Irwin, Lillian Wendlandt, Orwin Sparby, Elaine Toycen, Swanee Rasmussen, Toby and Judy Horn.
