COLFAX — Two people were arrested during a drug raid on a house at 511 Third Avenue in Colfax on Wednesday, October 10.
Members of the West Central Drug Task Force and officers from the Colfax, Eau Claire, and Chippewa police departments and the Dunn County Sheriff’s Department conducted the raid.
An arrest made by a Dunn County deputy the day before led to information about drug activity in Colfax, said Colfax Police Chief Pete Gehring.
Arrested during the raid was 34-year-old Katie E. Bundy, who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription drugs. Bundy also is being investigated for maintaining a drug trafficking house.
The second person arrested was 26-year-old Andrew T. Vincent, address unknown.
Vincent was taken to the Dunn County jail for a probation violation. He was charged with possession, and other charges may be pending, Chief Gehring said.
At the conclusion of the raid at 511 Third Avenue, several other houses were searched that were suspected of drug activity, but no more arrests were made, Chief Gehring said.
The house on Third Avenue had been “watched carefully for a long time. We have to take time to build a case that we can prosecute,” he said.
Small towns are seeing a growing problem of criminals moving in from bigger cities, Chief Gehring said.
“They think crime is easier in a small town, that they can blend in and hide out,” he said.
