“Fiddler on the Roof” has chosen actors from Sand Creek to perform on the State Theater stage in Eau Claire on Friday, Oct. 19, Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21. Hannah Gustum plays the part of Frumasarah, Sam Gustum plays the part of the Russian constable and Tesesa Gustum plays her fiddle.
Anita Jenson spent a few days last week with her grandchildren in Marshfield.
Martin Tandberg attended the Hungry Hollow Steam Engine event a week ago Saturday.
Rod and Carolyn Dahl went to the Stone Lake on Oct. 6 for the Cranberry Festival and braved the cold weather.
Jack and Renny Kidder of the Twin Cities came for the day on October 13 and took in the Pumpkin Fest at the Old School with Elaine Toycen.
Jean Hanson and Judy Gronning helped their mother, Marjorie Gronning celebrate her birthday at Knapp Haven in Chetek on October 11
Sandy Anderson, Jerry and Sue Favero, George Keltner, Darlene and Pat Madison and Merton Swanson enjoyed dinner at the Sand Creek Café on the evening of October 8 Sandy waitressed and cooked for the evening. Everyone enjoyed sharing stories and memories of their growing up days in Sand Creek
Irene Schultz of Menomonie visited Audrey Weaver one day last week
Inez Schrader’s son, Lee Anderson, picked up his mother for a big day of travel. They left home at 8:30 in the morning with their first stop at Fond du Lac where they visited a lady that Inez had taught with in 1948. On that same day, their drive continued to Sun Prairie where they had noon lunch with Lee’s daughter, Alyssa Anderson and celebrated her birthday. Following that event, they continued their drive to Lake Mills and visited Inez’ sister, Helen Geisler in her apt. Inez and her son, Lee arrived back in Sand Creek at Inez’s home at 8:30 p.m.
That day’s history took place on October 6.
Avis Hanson along with Sue and Richard Carlson, Michael Edington and Izabella celebrated the 25th Anniversary party for Brian and Angie Danielson with a delicious dinner at the Big Drywood church on Sunday, Oct. 7 Avis completed the afternoon by playing games and puzzles with her great granddaughter, Izabella. Sue keeps her mother more than occupied as on Monday she took Avis to Eau Claire for a doctor appointment after which they went shopping.
Ben and Josie Gehler and son from Aurora, IL and Marie Bunning from White Bear Lake and Betty Shipley of Barron, visited their aunt, Verna Knowlton on the afternoon of Sunday, October 7.
Avis Hanson’s news goes on as she has a birthday in October. On October 10th, Karen Miller from Hagerstown, MD, Esther Larson and Agnes Sorenson stopped for a visit. The next day on Thursday, Ann Wicken came for supper and had birthday cake baked by Judy Reetz followed by a couple game of Yahtzee. Watch for more of Avis’ birthday news in next week’s column.
Jim and Barb Kiekhafer of North St. Paul visited their cousin, Audrey Weaver on October 9.
Kay Heglund of Medford and Bud Schrader from Marshfield spent the day with Inez Schrader on Wed. October 10.
Brandon Westholm participated in the Tri-State Honors Jazz Festival held at UW-Superior on October 11, 2012. Jazz musicians from nearly 20 high schools participated in the day long clinic. A concert was held that evening which was also attended by Brandon’s parents, Doug and Becky Westholm and brother, Benjamin.
Jerry and Sandy Timm enjoyed their recent day in Minneapolis which included a first visit to their two-week old great granddaughter, Grace. It was also a chance to see their daughter, Mary Alise who is here from New Mexico and the new parents, Alicia and Bezh.
In the evening, they attended the wedding of William Jahn and Katie Link, at the Van Dusen Mansion. Other locals in attendance were: Kenny and Sharon Nelson, Kay and John Dahlka, Steve and Brenda Gustum, Dean and Sue Swanson, Scott Omtvedt and Tracey Aasen. It was a lovely day with Heather Jahn and Adam Dahlka also in the wedding party.
Herb and Doris Tallman hosted the following guests this past weekend including: Mark Dietsche of Bettendorf, Iowa, Dan Dietsche of Mpls. Paul Dietsche of Marshfield and Debbie and Gus Avenido and Aaron of St. Paul.
October 13 was a special day when Rod and Carolyn Dahl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at New Hope Lutheran church with relatives and many friends.The children provided an entertaining program and of course there is always coffee and wedding cake, plus salads and specialties.
Sharon and Karen Hegna came over from Mpls. to celebrate the Dahl’s 50th. and took in the Pumpkin Fest at the school in the morning.
Norma Waterhouse and her mother, Thelma Waterhouse, Dale Waterhouse and Bill’s friend, Jen traveled to Tomah on Sunday, Oct. 14 for the baptism of Mackenzi Rose Habbett, the daughter of Jennifer and Andrew Habbett held at Gloria Dei Lutheran church in Tomah. Norma Waterhouse was the godmother and Nathan Waterhouse was the godfather. Mackenzi’s cousin was baptized on the same day. The families enjoyed dinner together at Perkins following the baptismal service.
