Lady Mounders wins conference title with perfect record
HAMMOND – The Elk Mound volleyball team made sure there was no doubt as to who the 2012 Dunn-St. Croix Conference champion would be as they finished the season 9-0 by pounding the St. Croix Central Panthers at home in three sets Oct. 9. The Mounders only gave up 32 points in the three sets, winning by scores of 25-12, 25-8, and 25-12.
Elk Mound committed just four serving errors in the match as Katie Johnson was 11 for 11 at the line and added 10 assists. Kaysi Meindel slammed 13 kills while Anna Sessions dominated at the net with eight kills and four blocks and Katie Bergh covered the back row, coming up with 15 digs. Becca Kopp led the team in assists with 14 and served up a pair of aces and Maddy Polden followed suit with two aces and 11 digs.
The Mounders end the regular season with a tournament in Mondovi Oct 13 then begin regional play Tuesday, Oct. 16. They will host Whitehall and if they win this match, they will play host to the winner of the Colfax-Blair-Taylor match on Thursday night.
