Bulldog boys finish strong at conference; girl’s team places last

MONDOVI – The Boyceville cross country team headed to Mondovi on Thursday where they competed at the Conference meet with the boy’s finishing in third place and the girl’s team in eighth place.
Tanner Johnson-Hetchler had a solid race as he finished in seventh place out of 98 runners with a time of 17:59.70 to earn himself first team all-conference.
Finishing second for the boy’s team was Ian Kane in 12th place with a 18:27.56. This earned him a second team all-conference honor. Senior Nick Adams just missed the second team all-conference mark as he finished in 17th with a 19:00.86.
Finishing for the rest of the team were Mitchell Pustol in 24th (19:15.70), James Lindo in 28th (19:45.07), Tristan Debell in 37th (20:14.44), Tyler Wolfe in 47th (20:38.54), Ian Fontaine in 58th (21:51.86), Ignacio Iglesias in 80th (23:42.55), Peter Duerst in 86th (23:56.87), Jack Kapsner in 88th (24:11.85) and Alec Scaefer in 96th (26:40.06).
Sasha Maro of Mondovi took first place in the boys race with a time of 17:02.51.
The girl’s team was led by senior Alex Wold who finished in 21st out of 70 runners with a time of 18:22.61.
Following her were sisters Michaella Kegen in 36th (19:18.02) and Katie Kegen in 45th (19:47.97), Anna Jenkins in 47th (20:02. 96), Katelyn Merten in 60th (22:39.63) and Alex Kapsner in 69th (33:04.93).
First place went to senior Breanna Colbenson of Spring Valley with a time of 15:19.43.
“Several kids ran their best times on a very challenging course. I felt like every single Boyceville runner from our last to our first gave their best effort,” shared coach Corey Day.
The cross country team will head to Fall Creek this Saturday, October 20 for the Sectional meet.
