Card of Thanks – Kim Dupre
Voters do count!! On behalf of the Friends of St. Croix County Nursing Home, I’d like to express a deeply grateful “Thank You” to the St. Croix County Supervisors who voted last week to keep operating the County Nursing Home.
[emember_protected}Their responsiveness to two overwhelmingly favorable referendums and current public support (standing room only at the Board meeting last week) are indications of their commitment to true representative democracy – following the voter’s lead. These heros are as follows: Travis Schachtner (Somerset), Agnes Ring (St. Joseph), Dave Ostness (River Falls), Roger Larson (Star Prairie), Fred Horne (New Richmond), Ron Kiesler (New Richmond), Andy Brinkman (New Richmond), David Peterson (River Falls), Joe Hurtgen (Woodville), Brian Hurtgen (Glenwood City), Duane Russett (Baldwin), and Bill Peavey (Woodville). These folks carefully gathered information, weighed the facts and costs (both long-term and short-term) and considered the concerns about an expanding elderly population and continuation of a safety net that would truly work for the needy against a very vocal, but minority crowd – all of which were from Hudson. This was not an easy decision and these folks deserve our gratitude for listening to voters. Please take the time to make a phone call or write an e-mail or note to thank them – they deserve recognition for their commitment to the principles this country was founded upon – representative democracy.
Kim Dupre – on behalf of the Friends of St. Croix County Nursing Home (a coalition of resident families, concerned citizens, employees, and local elected officials).
