Sand Creek Chatter – 10-10-2012

Brandon Westholm celebrated his 17th birthday with family and friends at the Chetek Lanes for a pizza and bowling party on Sat. Sept. 22 Then on Sept. 23. Brandon was accompanied by his parents, Doug and Becky Westholm, Derek, Benjamin and Danielle and friends Julie and Marissa Cyrus for a birthday dinner at Applebees in Rice Lake.

Dick and Elaine Clemmens went camping with Travis and Tammy Solie and Hannah and her friend, Emily, to the White Tail Ridge Campground near Sarona a week ago.

Mark Gilberts was home doing a few tasks and spending time with his dad, Snort, last week. Then Mark left on Tuesday of this week to return to Mundelien, IL

Judi McCullum of Grafton, WI, was an overnight guest of Paul and LouAnn Gilberts while here to attend Uncle Dale Davis’ funeral.

Ron Thompson and Irene Loftus gave a nice presentation of a Cruise Trip to Alaska at the October 1st Senior meeting They had many excellent views of the Vancouver area.

Louie and Judy Reetz went to Chippewa Falls on Sept. 29 to celebrate their grandson Nathan Moerke’s 5th birthday at the home of his parents, Stephanie and Ben Moerke and brother, Joshua.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, Doug, Becky Brandon, Ben and Danielle Westholm along with friends, Casey Lamie and Angel Van Rammen attended the Homecoming Concert at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. Derek Westholm is in his second year at UWRF and is a member of the Symphonic Band and section leader for the percussion section of the UWRF Jazz Ensemble which both performed at the concert.

Fran and Sue Piotrowski took a trip along the North Shore to Silver Bay on Sept. 23, 24 and 25 during the pleasant weather.

Mary and Ron Keller of Hopkins, MN, were home to visit Mae Sparby a week ago.

On Sunday, Sept. 30, Louie and Judy Reetz went to Glenwood City to watch Brayden Wolf of Elmwood, play the Youth Football Championship against Durand when Elmwood took second place.

Caryl Schoen had knee replacement surgery at Stillwater on October 2. She arrived home on Friday, October 5 and is now doing therapy at Bloomer 2 days each week.

Juel Smith drove up from Eau Claire to attend Wilma Omtvedt’s funeral service on October 4.

Ruby Johnson of Bloomer and her niece, Myrtle Ebert of Mpls. enjoyed lunch at Sand Creek Café on Wednesday of last week.

Carol Hogan and Wes Wolf of Barrington, IL visited Cathy and Bob LeFevre during the past week. They helped with Prairie Restoration at the LeFevre acreage and also attended the Blue Grass Jam at the Old School on Saturday evening.

Carol Gustum attended her 66th Class Reunion with the Class of 1946 held at the White Tail Golf Course at Colfax on Saturday, October 6. Deloris and Wesley Paulson of Altoona were among the 28 who attended as well.

Owen Knutson went with his Grandpa Dave and Grandma Carol Busta and Uncle Dave Busta to the Badger Football game in Madison on Saturday.

Judy Horn, along with friends, Carol Ebling, Polly Persons and Rose Scharlau, left on Friday for Hayward where they stayed overnight at the Comfort Inn. On Saturday, the group attended the Cranberry Fest in Stone Lake having fun shopping and eating. Enroute home, the girls enjoyed supper at the Sand Creek Café.
