Sand Creek Chatter – 10-3-2012

Starting this Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Old School, Sand Creek Arts will host a Blue Grass Jam. Local bluegrass artists come together to jam and we get to enjoy their music.

Tom and Caryl Schoen spent a recent weekend in Door County when Caryl’s two sisters met them there to have time together

Glenn and Margie Anderson, Carol Redman and Emily Nielsen and her children, Joshua, Connor, Grace, Abby and Benjamin had a picnic in Memorial Park one day last week.

Harlan and Lana Anderson attended their grandson, Isaac Anderson’s 7th birthday party on Sept. 16 at the home of his parents, Marc and Kristen Anderson and brother, Luke.

Mary Hanson accompanied Sandy Anderson last weekend to Cable where Sandy participated in an Art Fair. They enjoyed the scenery and festivities at Cable. Teri Hanson of Barnes joined them and later the two ladies were overnight guests of Teri.

An added interesting note of news was that Sandy’s son, Aaron Anderson participated in a Triathalon in Champaign, IL where he attends school a week ago. He swam, biked and ran in this event.

Guests of Glenn and Margie Anderson on the weekend of Sept. 29 and 30th were: David and Sara Wattenford and little 10-week old daughter, Kalia from Sheboygan.

Alden and Gert Berg and Jeff Berg attended the funeral for Richard Vevle in Hopkins, MN on Saturday morning of Sept. 29.

Don and Doris Freeman nominated Joyce Goodremote for the Sunshine Award on WEAU on Thursday, Sept. 27. Congratulations, Joyce.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mary Olson of New Auburn whose funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 28 at 11 o’clock at St. Jude’s church with Pastor Stratton officiating. Elwood Donaldson , a resident of Morningside Apts. was a brother of Mary.

Judy Horn drove to Woodbury, MN last Friday evening to support her grandson, Jonathan Horn. who sold fall produce such as pumpkins, broom corn, Indian corn, gourds and corn-shocks. He got the corn-shocks from his grandpa’s farm and gave the proceeds to the Autism Society of Minnesota. His older brother, Mitchell, has autism.

Dr. Larry Knutzen turned 65 on Sept. 29th so his brother, Bruce Knutzen of Tyler, Texas and his son, Brian flew here to help Larry celebrate his birthday.

Grandson, Tate Townsend honored his grandpa by walking on his own on Larry’s birthday, thus entertaining all the family.

Gene Buffington, Jerry Favero and Pat Madison enjoyed the beautiful fall weather on Monday with a Harley ride to Bresina’s Hometown Bar and Grill for lunch.

Elaine Toycen attended the 80th Anniversary Commemorative Worship Service at Luther Park on Sunday.

Jerry Favero, Gene Buffington, Dan and Craig Toycen returned from their annual 7-day fishing trip to Vermillion Bay, Canada on Monday. They enjoyed beautiful weather and several days of excellent fishing. Dave Toycen from Mississauga, Canada, missed the trip due to recent treatment for Malaria. His appetite and energy are slowing returning.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Wilma Omtvedt who passed away on Sept. 29. Her funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 4 at New Hope Lutheran church in Sand Creek.

Tim Knutson who is a pilot with American Airlines, is scheduled to fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 3 and will return to Wisconsin on Thursday morning, October 4.
