Bianca is a bright 16-year old African American young woman. She enjoys shopping, singing in the shower, swimming and fishing. She also enjoys writing, which she excels at. Bianca describes herself as being “adventurous.” She is in 11th grade and can do very well when she is motivated. Bianca is in need of a family who will give her praise to keep her motivated to do well in school.
Bianca is in need of a home that is structured and has an emphasis on rules, while also helping her gain her independence. When she was asked what she would like in her adoptive parents and home she said she would like a family to possess the following qualities: honesty, trust and respect, and someone to talk to and communicate with on a daily basis.
Bianca would do best in a home where she is allotted enough one-on-one time with her adoptive parents. A home with siblings would be ok as long as Bianca was able to have private bonding time with her parents as well.
Although Bianca is chronologically 16-years old, socially and emotionally she sometimes acts like she is closer to the ages of 8 and 10 years old. She can have a low tolerance for frustration and can become verbally aggressive, with rare instances of shoving others and slamming doors when especially upset. But positive reinforcement, praise, and individualized attention may help in calming her.
Bianca has an aunt and uncle as well as some adult step siblings in Wisconsin, and she wants to continue to have a relationship with them, although is open to living outside of the state as her primary objective is finding a family of her own. There is no doubt Bianca will present some parenting challenges. However, Bianca will most benefit from a deeply committed adoptive family that can provide an environment of supportive structure as well as personalized and nurturing attention. Bianca has been patiently waiting to find a family of her own and continues to look for a forever connection.
