Dunn County Solid Waste introduces their new Recycling Specialist, Amanda Dent.
Dent is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, with a degree in Waste Management. In 2010, she interned with Dunn County Solid Waste auditing apartment buildings and convenience stores, and overseeing recycling at special events. Since her internship, Dent has worked in southern Illinois increasing recycling rates and educating residents on the importance of recycling. She’s been a volunteer with the Wisconsin DNR, working on various recycling and solid waste projects from carpet recycling to tire disposal.
Since returning to Dunn County Solid Waste, Dent has been developing a recycling superhero mascot. She’s also been working with Menomonie Disposal and the public to increase curbside recycling and decrease contamination. As the county’s Recycling Specialist, Dent serves as the administrator of the Dunn County Solid Waste and Recycling Facebook page
(www.facebook.com/dunncountyrecycling) and is available to give recycling presentations. In her own words, she’s “excited to be back and make a ‘Dent’ in the county’s recycling programs.”
