Viking netters sweep Blackhawks

Facing a usually tough team in the Heart’ O North Conference, the Colfax volleyball team won three straight games against the Bloomer Blackhawks on their home court Aug. 28.
All three games were close as the Vikings won 25-23, 25-22 and after trailing most of the third set, came back for an exciting 25-23 win in the third set to win the match.
Kori Buchanan led the Vikings in kills with 10 and Melanie Billon slammed seven more. Buchanan added 14 assists and Dannielle Dachel set her teammates up 13 times while Ryleigh Prochnow denied Bloomer points with five block/kills.Alexis Rudi led the team in digs with 13.
“This was a hard fought match by both teams,” Colfax coach Pam Meredith said.
“Every set could have gone either way. This is the kind of competition we need to gain experience as we learn to take care of the ball in stressful and exciting situations. This was a great team effort and we look forward to honing our skills when we start conference competition in a couple of weeks,” she added.
