Janice and Roger Horn from Clarion, PA stayed two nights with Harlan and Lana Anderson following Doris Currens’ funeral a couple of weeks ago.
Lillian Hanson and Avis Hanson went to Susan and Rick Carlson’s a week ago to celebrate Avis’ great grandson, Angelo James’ first birthday. Friends of the family joined them for a fun afternoon.
Billy and Jacob Messenger from Victoria, Minnesota, enjoyed a week’s visit with their great grandmother, Joanie Williams at Morningside Apts. before school started.
Butch and Sue Mares drove to Carrollton, Texas on Wed., Aug. 29 to visit their daughter, Cara and Chad Clark and Cadence. They returned to Sand Creek on Sept. 5.
On Friday, Aug. 31, Larry and Teri Hanson of Barnes, WI joined Mary and Bob Hanson in traveling to Alexandria, MN to visit the men’s sister and her husband, Ruth and Russ Osterberg. Friday afternoon, Teri and Mary visited a college friend in Alexandria. On Saturday, Larry and Bob attended the annual Steam Threshers Reunion in Rolaag, MN After attending church together on Sunday morning, Bob, Mary, Larry and Teri returned to their respective homes.
Mark and Amy Dietsche and Madison of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Dan Dietsche of the Twin Cities, spent Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1 and 2) with Herb and Doris Tallman.
Fred Dobbs hosted a Fish-Fry on Saturday evening for about 81 people at the Lofthus Campground.
Beth Demsky of Rochester, Paul Sparby of the Twin Cities and Orwin Sparby of Bloomer had supper with Elaine Toycen on Sept. 1.
David and Bonnie Dobbs catered a Firewood Traveling Pizzaria at the Lofthus Campground on Sunday evening, Sept. 2.
Mark Gilberts of Mundelien, IL arrived at the Gilberts home on August 30 and stayed until Monday, Sept. 10 with his dad, Snort Gilberts. Cindy Gilberts popped in and out several times. Mark attended his 40th Class Reunion at Chetek on Saturday evening.
Becky Schnacky of Bloomington, MN spent time with Alden and Becky Berg and Jeff from Friday, Sept. 7 until Sept. 9. They attended the Amish breakfast at the Sr. Center on Sat. morning
Tim Berg and his wife, Jean Giebenhain of the Twin Cities were home for Tim’s 40th Class Reunion on Sat. evening, Sept. 8 and visited Alden and Gert Berg and Jeff overnight until Sunday.
Lillian Wendlandt, Mae Sparby and Elaine Toycen visited Anna Madison at The Maplewood in Bloomer on Sept. 5.
Family and friends surprised Patrick Young for his 40th birthday at the Chetek Bowling Alley on Sept. 1. Liz Cruse provided a very appropriate Beehive cake for his birthday.
Wesley and Deloris Paulson of Altoona met the following friends for noon lunch at the Sand Creek Café on Sept. 7 that included: Gene and Bonnie Peterson, Herb and Doris Tallman, Elaine Toycen, Mae Sparby and Jean Larson.
Mae Sparby attended her 68th Class Reunion of 1944 in Chetek on Sept. 8. Bea Gehler Brenholt and Joyce Keller of that same class also were in attendance.
Bob and Laila Donaldson of Eau Claire, visited Elwood and Nina Donaldson on September 6.
Jerry and Sue Favero returned on Saturday, Sept. 8, from a 2-week deployment with American Red Cross. They traveled to several sites – Tampa, Arcadia and Tallahassee, Florida and Hattiesburg and Biloxi, MS. Time was spent in several Shelters, Bulk Distribution, ERV (Emergency Response Feeding Vehicle). Call Centers and Outreach. A highlight was being able to provide a new $400. wheelchair to a disabled 85-year old man who was flooded out of his home. Several heavy rain showers (6-8 inches one night) and wind was experienced much of the time.
The Talent Show at New Hope Lutheran church on Sunday afternoon, was well attended and the audience enjoyed a nice variety of talents from the community.
Becky Fostvedt of Eau Claire, visited her parents, Elwood and Nina Donaldson on September 9.
