United Sportsmen of Wisconsin applaud Governor Walker’s decision to suspend the October four day antlerless hunt in the CWD area.
“This was the best news I could have gotten,” said Scott Maves USW Board member. “I live and hunt in the CWD area and was pleased that the voice of hunters in the CWD area was heard.”
A statement previously issued, from Dr. James Kroll and his team of experts who recommended eliminating the October antlerless hunt in the CWD area, stated that implementing this portion of the plan is a positive step toward rebuilding relationships with the deer hunting community.
“With thanks to the Governor, we have now taken the first step toward the implementation of the Deer Trustee’s plan to bring Wisconsin’s proud deer hunting traditions back and putting the fun back in hunting” said Andy Panztlaff, USW Board Vice President. “We look forward to working with the Department of Natural Resources and the Governor’s office to bring the rest of the recommendations into effect as quickly as possible.”
