This week we had a busy week and beautiful weather. This made every activity even more fun.
On Sunday we started the day with the broadcast of Grace Lutheran’s Church service on TV after breakfast. Leona Ubbelohde visited and spent time with many residents. The REX Class was well attended after Dinner. Later in the afternoon many visitors enjoyed visiting in the court yard with their loved ones. Thanks to the warm days, a lot of fresh air, and cooler nights helped everyone sleep more soundly.
On Monday morning the residents had breakfast before they went to Devotions, Reading Group and Exercise Classes. Sarah Berg, a new volunteer was here to help. After dinner (which consisted of Chicken Alfredo or Salisbury steak with noodles, Tomato Slices, Broccoli, Bread Pudding or Ice Cream) the residents went to the REX Class. At two the residents went down to the south dining room to enjoy music with Rich Schroeder. His music is so melodious and pleasurable. Rich always stays to have coffee and treats after his performance. Sarah Berg and Sue Hill were here to help transport residents and later they visited with many residents. After supper the 6PM REX Class was another chance for everyone to socialize and let off some steam throwing balls. Residents say it’s wild and wonderful!
On Tuesday morning we had Devotions and Reading Group and did some easy exercises. These programs expand our spirits, mind, and our range of motion. Range of motion is especially important because it was Bingo Day. One has to be able to raise their arm when they say Bingo! The arms also get raised when Bingo is over and residents go to the activities area for Happy Hour. This week Veggie Straws were the snacks served. Many residents took advantage of the Karaoke selections. Veda and Sarah were available for visits, transporting and going for walks and after supper the Rex Class was at 6 PM. The snack cart was passed later in the evening.
On Wednesday Morning we had a church service. Deloris played the piano and read the scriptures. Linnea helped gather and pass out music books. Veda, Sarah, and Linnea helped gather and pass books for the service. The warm August afternoon was taken advantage of by many who came outdoors to play “Trivia”.
On Thursday morning the Red and Blue Teams faced off again to play Volleyball. Sarah Berg and Ashley Coats and her children helped staff keep score and retrieve balls. The Red Team beat the Blues 15 to 6.It was a good game. This week they didn’t even burst the ball. Today there was a Joy Ride. A fishing trip to Fellen Park was their destination because one of our residents received a new fishing pole for his birthday. No fish to bring back, only a pleasant memory of an afternoon on the river. The “Movie and Popcorn” featured the “Train routes of Colorado”. It was very interesting. Sue Buroker helped make popcorn and also visited some folks that didn’t attend the movie.
On Friday morning we had our Gospel Sing with Glen and Julie leading songs and Deloris playing the piano. Linnea and Veda helped residents with their song books. Loretta Logslett led the Rosary for our Catholic residents. After dinner the “Dime Bingo” began. The pockets had a little jingle as residents went back to their rooms after the game and coffee time. The Vending cart was passed around 4PM. Saturday residents had Rex Class at 1PM the “Hollywood Game” at 2PM, and Rex Bounce Ball again at 6PM. That’s what happened here in the land of Colfax, where the men are durable and the ladies are adorable.
