Merton and Marie Swanson recently enjoyed a 9-day trip to visit their daughter, Erin Browder and family in Bonny Lake, WA. While there, they enjoyed a special time with two-year-old grandson, Max, toured the Boeing Aviation Center at Everett, WA. and a visit with Merton’s Nephew, Ken Elwood, who lives in Puyallup, WA. On the way home, they spent time at the Harley Rally in Sturgis, S.D. where the temperature was 106 degrees F.
Pastor Michael and Natalie Peterson enjoyed a few days with Pastor Michael’s parents, Gene and Bonnie Peterson from Tuesday of last week until Thursday, Aug. 9.
Following the Toycen Reunion at Luther Park on Aug. 3 to 5, Dave and Diane Toycen as well as Jaymes and Linda Toycen, Emily and Rachel spent an extra week at the Toycen-Favero farm before returning to their respective homes in Toronto, Canada and Seattle, WA on August 10.
John and Amy Langer, Esther, Isaac, Anna and Naomi of Pasadena, CA, left on Aug. 11 to travel by car to return home after enjoying time with George and Delores Vlcek as well as John’s father in Eau Claire and their siblings and families and friends in the area.
Katie and Matt Lois, Jenna and Adam of Oconomowoc, came up to the Bob Hanson farm on Aug. 11 to be present for the Hanson triplets’ baptism on Aug. 12.
On Monday, August 13, Sandy Anderson, Glenn Anderson, Bob Hanson and Eunice Dewey, went out to visit their aunt, Doris Currens, at the Mt. Olivet Home in the Twin Cities. It was so amazing to have this remarkable visit as she passed away the next day following their visit. She had made the decision to go off of dialysis, but they never expected that she would die so soon after that decision.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Doris Currens who had resided at Mt. Olivet Home in Mpls. and passed away on Aug. 14 at the age of 96. The funeral service was held at the Mt. Olivet Home on Saturday, Aug. 18 with the following in attendance that included: Carol Anderson, Sandy Anderson, Lana Anderson, Glenn and Margie Anderson, Bob and Mary Hanson, Rod and Carolyn Dahl and Ray and Audrey Parrett.
On Tuesday, Aug. 14, Bob and Mary Hanson met Jenna and Adam Lois in Tomah to bring them to the farm to stay for 10 days and time playing with their cousins.
The Aasen-Hoff family Reunion met at Phelan Park in Menomonie on Sat. Aug. 18. About 50 family members including brothers, sisters and spouses and grandchildren were present.
Tom and Caryl Schoen’s children, spouses and grandchildren were home on the weekend of Aug. 18 and 19 and attended the Amish breakfast together at the Civic Center on Saturday morning.
Herb and Doris Tallman took Herb’s daughter, Linnea and her daughter, Samantha to the Mpls. airport on Aug. 18 to fly home to Virginia after having a great week at the farm and going north visiting Matt Dietsche and touring the north shore area. then on to Deb Avenido’s family in the Twin Cities. They also had enjoyed the Dietsche families the preceding weekend at the local Tallman-Dietche farm.
Carl Hoveland flew home to Athens, GA on Aug. 17. In reminiscing about his time in Wisconsin, he had arrived in Eau Claire on July 27 staying overnight with Wesley and Deloris Paulson. Then he is working his way north to spend the week with his sister, Hannah and Gaylon Greenhill, he called on old friends and neighbors, first at Bloomer, he visited Orwin Sparby, then on Sunday morning before New Hope Lutheran church services, he had the privilege of talking to so many old friends during the coffee hour, then on Sunday after church, he was joined at the Sand Creek Café for a good visit with Elaine Toycen, Jean Larson, Gaylon and Hannah. During the week, he met Vernoid and Ardys Hoveland in Colfax one day at the Country Shop. He had lunch one day with a cousin, Venonah Dalhoe and then he called on his high school English teacher, Lillie Carlson Sauer for a delightful visit. Another day was a visit with Arlene Hoveland, an evening at Jake’s with cousin, Swanhild Rasmussen, Hannah and Gaylon, and a pleasant afternoon one day with Dan Toycen in Bloomer. He was glad that he didn’t miss seeing Joseph and Lois Moore who reside on the farm where Carl grew up. He had one more overnight stay with the Paulsons in Altoona before going to the airport on Aug. 17.
Peter and Becky Berg and Merton and Marie Swanson attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Orland and Lois Gustum at the Methodist in Cadott on Saturday, Aug. 18.
In checking back on the “corn feed” at the Old School in the Community Room, Gene and Judy Buffington donated the sweet corn for the corn feed at the school on Aug. 11
Sandy Timm, Judy Reetz, Cathy LeFevre, Gerhard Nyhus and J.D. Henry were good workers serving the corn, delicious barbecues and homemade pies plus coffee and lemonade at the Aug. 11 corn feed.
Becky Schnacky was home for the weekend with Alden and Gert Berg and Jeff Berg and attended the corn feed at the Grace Community Room on Aug. 11..
