Sunday the weather reminded all of us that summer can’t last indefinitely. Residents took advantage of the warm weather and got out side for walks or just sitting and visiting with others. Leona Ubbelohde spent time visiting with many of her old and new friends. The broadcast of Grace Lutheran Church Service out of Eau Claire was enjoyed by many. Some of the residents had company for the noon meal. Sunday’s dinners are always special. A number of residents played cards after the 1:00 Rex Class. Bounce ball in the evening was extremely well attended.
On Monday we had devotions at 10:00 followed by a reading by Alice Massie. We did our Monday morning keeping fit exercise. Sue Hill came to help with our afternoon program. While the homemade ice cream machine was processing the dessert residents did an art project. Bounce Ball in the evening was a full house as usual.
On Tuesday morning the residents gathered in the resident lounge and had some devotional time. Every day we are reminded that we have much to be thankful for. Veda came to help with the programs. She visits with residents on a 1 to 1 basis. Veda also reads to the residents and takes them for walks. The Rex Class at 1:00 had residents warmed up for Bingo. Happy Hour at 3:45 was the next thing on the schedule. It is always a relaxing time to enjoy a cocktail and some munchies with friends.
On Wednesday morning Pastor Schroetter led the Church Service. Deloris was the pianist and Linnea helped residents with their music books. The dinner on Wednesday was very good. In the afternoon the Beauty Boutique opened its doors and many residents had their nails manicured and polished. Ashley and Cathy do such a great job remembering everyone’s favorite shades of polish.
Thursday morning was our regular Volley Ball tournament. Ashley Coates and her adorable children helped keep the ball going back and forth. Karen Wagner was also here helping. The Blue team played hard, but the Red team won with a BANG! Literally, because the game was called when the ball burst! The afternoon was our August “Show or Tell”. This month Antoinette Ciesieski from Menomonie was our guest. She is a Spinster. What a treat to see and learn more about spinning fibers into yarn. We all got to touch many fibers and ask lots of questions. Coffee and treats were served.
Friday morning Rosary was led by Loretta Logslett. Veda was here helping as well as Linnea. The Gospel Sing was led by Glen and Julie. Deloris Huber was the pianist. The halls were filled with beautiful music. Thank you all for your time and talents. We look forward to these programs every week. In the afternoon the Dime Bingo was well attended and many residents use the monies to buy items on the vending cart that is passed in late afternoon on Friday.
On Saturday Sue Broeker came to visit with residents. Shannon got a “Hollywood” game going in the afternoon. Cool weather didn’t stop many from going on a brisk walk around the grounds. We had a great week here in the land of Colfax where the men are strong and the ladies are good looking..
