Susan Carlson picked up her mother, Avis Hanson for a day of shopping on July 28 after which Avis stayed overnight with the Carlson’s to attend the Big Drywood Church at Cadott on Sunday for Pastor Diane’s last Sunday. After a potluck dinner, Susan, Rick, Michael, Isabella and Avis attended a surprise party on Mrs. Daniel Peterson at the Barron Park. She was 60 years old and retired from teaching. A lovely meal was served with time for visiting with relatives and friends.
Jim and Jessica Hanson, along with Nate, Josh, Camila, Angie and Roci, just returned from a wonderfully relaxing two weeks away along the shore of Lake Michigan on July 26. The family rented a cottage right on the beach near Menominee, MI and enjoyed hours and hours of making sand castles, swimming and just taking in the beautiful creation. A trip to Pictured Rock National Lakeshore near Munising, MI was a highlight of the trip – climbing sand dunes, hiking up streams, and even swimming in Lake Superior (which was unseasonabley warm).
Dave and Sara Wattenford of Sheboygan, WI had a baby girl, named Kalia Nicole Wattenford born on July 22, 2012.
Naomi and Hannah Cryder, who are the granddaughters of Glenn and Margie Anderson flew from Anchorage, Alaska to Minneapolis in late July. Then on August 1st, their mother, Jennifer Cryder and sons, Korban and Sam joined them for a two –week family visit with Glenn and Margie.
Doug and Becky Westholm , Derek, Brandon, Ben and Danielle Westholm along with Ashley Halvorson from Dallas, WI, recently returned from an 11-day trip to Orlando, FL. While there, the group enjoyed Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, Sea World and Busch Gardens in Tampa During the trip, the group also enjoyed visiting Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley, Georgia where the peach harvest was still in full swing.
Wesley and Deloris Paulson of Altoona met Jean Larson, Mae Sparby, Herb and Doris Tallman, Matt Dietsche and Elaine Toycen at the Sand Creek Café on Friday, August 3.
On July 26-28, Becky, Derek and Brandon Westholm were part of a group of 24 youth and adults that attended Fascinate, a conference that focus’s on connecting teens to the prayer movement. The group returned from the Kansas City, MO conference on July 29.
Bob and Barbara Kiekhafer of St. Paul visited their cousin, Audrey Weaver at Morningside Apts. the week-end of Aug.4th
Carol Squires of Friendsville, MD, flew home on August 7 after spending two weeks with her mother, Swanee Rasmussen when they enjoyed 5 days in Iowa for a Rasmussen Family Reunion as well as taking in the Toycen Reunion at Luther Park on Aug. 3rd to Aug. 5th.
Kurt and Janene Hanson, Stephanie , Ryan and Nicole recently took a family vacation trip west where they saw Mt. Rushmore, the Corn Palace, a number of cultured State Parks and Water Park.
Dan Nelson of Morningside Apts. went by ambulance on Aug. 5 to Coronary Care at Sacret Heart Hospital in Eau Claire where he stayed until Tuesday, August 7.
The WELCA ladies of New Hope Lutheran church including: Lana Anderson, Lois Minnich and Delores Thompson served coffee and tasty goodies at Morningside Apts. on August 9. They also called on Verna Knowlton that afternoon.
Harold and Betty Lou Peterson and son, John Peterson of Schofield, WI visited Swanee Rasmussen on Thursday morning of August 9.
Sympathy is extended to the friends and family of Richard Gavin whose funeral service was held at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home , Cameron on Friday, August 10 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert L. Koepp officiating. Burial was at New Hope Pine Creek Lutheran Cemetery, town of Wilson, Dunn County.
Carl Hoveland of Athens, GA, arrived in the Sand Creek area on August 11 to spend time with his sister, Hannah and Gaylon Greenhill at Gronhaug and to visit other relatives and friends.
Joyce Rogers of Hudson visited her grandmother, Verna Knowlton on Aug. 11. She had been fishing in Canada , so she brought Verna some Walleye.
Bill and Val Jacobson of Humbird visited Kenny and Sharon Nelson during this past week. Val and Sharon taught together in the Chetek schools in their second and third year out of college, 1967 through 1969
Marie Bunning of White Bear Lake and Betty Shipley of Barron had lunch with Verna Knowlton on August 8. Then Floy Ann Lofthus joined the ladies for coffee in the afternoon.
