BOYCEVILLE — The Boyceville Community Ambulance District’s quarterly meeting report for May, June and July contains “routine” items and nothing out of the ordinary, said Captain Shanna Knops of the Boyceville ambulance service.
Matt Feeney, director of the Boyceville ambulance service, had a scheduling conflict with the meeting time, Knops said at the July 10 meeting, noting that she was giving the quarterly report in Feeney’s absence.
Gilbert Krueger, Boyceville village president and president of the Boyceville ambulance district board, asked about the accident on Highway 25 on July 6 when a motorcycle swerved to miss a bear.
Although the motorcycle driver succeeded in missing the bear, the driver “laid the motorcycle down” and then ended up sliding along the highway, Knops said.
Although no one died at the scene, Knops said the ambulance service has not received any updates on the people involved.
To date, the Boyceville ambulance service has had 119 calls, and there are 18 EMTs on the roster with two new hires coming on, Knops reported.
The Boyceville fire department and the Boyceville ambulance district will be teaming up to have an ATV ride in the district with raffles and a brat feed on October 5, she said.
The ambulance service applied for a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant last October for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) devices in the amount of $34,000, and the ambulance service is waiting to hear whether the grant has been awarded, Knops said.
All of the EMTs with the Boyceville ambulance service will need to take a refresher class before June of 2020, she said.
The audit of the ambulance district’s finances is expected to be completed by the end of July by Wipfli LLP, Knops noted.
Municipalities in the Boyceville ambulance district include the Towns of Hay River, Hew Haven, Stanton, Tiffany, Sherman and Sheridan and the Village of Boyceville.

According to the report submitted to the Boyceville ambulance district board, the ambulance service had remaining funds on hand as of July 10 of $125,211.79.
None of the representatives of the ambulance district commented on the amount of funds on hand, although several years ago, the ambulance service was running at a deficit.
Income received for May, June and July was $23,835, including $2,700 in May and $18,000 in June from Andre’s Medical Billing (July collections were not posted yet); $2,250 from raceway standby at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie; and $635 from conducting CPR classes.
Expenses included payroll from May 1 to July 10 of $32,829.74, and invoices paid for May, June and July of $43,820.69.
The next quarterly meeting of the Boyceville ambulance district is October 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boyceville Village Hall on Charlotte Street.
