FLORENCE “FLORRIE” MARIE (JACOBSEN) LORENZ WOODFORD
Florence “Florrie” Marie (Jacobsen) Lorenz Woodford, age 101 of Menomonie, WI passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI.
Florrie was born March 2, 1916 in Linn Grove, IA to Jacob and Kate (Kennett) Jacobsen. As a young child they moved to the Glenwood area, where she was raised. She later met and married Russell Lorenz on June 3, 1935 and they lived in Downing, WI until purchasing a farm in Boyceville, WI where they farmed and she operated the Boyceville Lunch Wagon at many of the area auctions. Florrie also worked at the Knapp House in Knapp, WI and running her truck garden selling the produce from the farm. To this union were born three children: Wayne, Alice and June. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, quilting and baking. Following Russell’s death Florrie later married Fred Woodford on July 22, 1983 and they moved to Eau Claire, WI. During their years together they enjoyed volunteering at the area nursing homes where Fred would play music while Florrie would get the residents involved in the festivities. After Fred’s passing, she moved to Menomonie, WI. She especially enjoyed going out for Sunday Breakfast and taking day trips and traveling with family members anywhere and anytime.
Florrie is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Russell and Fred, son Wayne, three brothers William, James and Kenneth Jacobsen and two sisters Caroline Sachsenmaier and Irene Cress and great-grandchild Nathan Evenson.
Florrie is survived by two daughter Alice (Billy) Evenson, June (Ron) Koenig; Daughter-in-law Gloria Lorenz; grandchildren Crystel (Karl) Atwood, Wayne (Debbie) Lorenz II, Connye (Jeff) Kegen, Cindy Hoppe, Tammy (Dave) Toll, Kevin & Todd Evenson; great-grandchildren Heather (Eric) Bauer, Emma Lorenz, Abby Lorenz, September Lynn (Christopher) Bessler, Jared Kegen, Travis (Tiffany) Moe, Tatjana Moe, Turner Moe, Matthew Evenson & Melinda Evenson; great-great-grandchildren Kaden Bauer, Alison Moe, Melody Moe, Naomi Moe, Marshall Moe & Leland Moe. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2 to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI with Reverend Leroy Nelson officiating. Burial was in the Hay River Cemetery in Hay River, WI. Florrie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
