MARGARET CAROLINE CHRISTIANSON
Margaret Caroline Christianson, 90, passed away at the home of her daughter, Marsha and Dan Wynn of Louisville, TN, on June 28.
She was born November 6, 1926 on a farm near Sand Creek, Wisconsin, to Guy and Mina (Myran) Jenson. She started rural grade school 3 miles from home, speaking mostly Norwegian. In 1934, the family moved to rural Colfax, where Margaret completed 8th grade at 18-mile creek school and graduated from Colfax High School in 1945. She married Jack Christianson of Bloomer, on April 12, 1947, living and farming at first on the Ole K. Myran farm near Sand Creek, then next with her folks near Colfax before purchasing a farm in the Town of Howard in 1953. She worked for two years at the Bronken Agency. While raising two children, Margaret did a lot of the chores and farming on their farm while Jack drove school bus and did custom farm work. Margaret also drove school bus for 27 years. Margaret was a very active Colfax Lutheran Church member since her marriage in 1947 – involved in Sunday School, music, circle chairperson, and Ladies Aid president for many years. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls and lefse. She also did volunteer work at the area nursing home. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many hobbies – including playing guitar and singing, gardening, home improvement projects, cards, horseback riding, square dancing. She did everything with love and a strong commitment admired by many. Margaret moved from her home near Colfax to her daughter’s home in TN three years ago. She missed her dear friends from Colfax but enjoyed meeting many new friends in TN.
