CHARLES L. DILLER

Charles L. Diller, age 96 of Boyceville, WI died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Triple Springs Country Home in the Township of Tiffany, WI with hospice.

Leigh was born May 3, 1921 in the Town of New Haven, WI to Charles and Jane (Eng) Diller.

He attended the Hilson Grade School and later graduated from Boyceville High School in 1938. He grew up on the family farm and farmed until his parents’ deaths. On October 19, 1996 Leigh married Nancy Hitchcock. They remained on the farm until moving to Boyceville in 2003. Leigh was a life long member of the United Methodist Church in Connorsville, WI serving several positions on the church board until its closing. He transferred his membership to the Boyceville United Methodist Church. He served 48 years as treasurer for the Town of New Haven. He also served on the Hilson School Board, Connorsville Farmers Co-op and Glenhaven Boards. He enjoyed traveling with his sisters and their husbands and later with Nancy after their marriage. Leigh also enjoyed playing cards with friends and his cribbage war with Nancy. Growing up he played softball and later bowled and played dartball. He was a Packer, Badger and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.

Leigh is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Susan and Betty Jane and brother-in-law Paul Saugestad.

Leigh is survived by his wife Nancy Diller; sisters Barbara (Fred) Gorka and Elizabeth Saugestad; stepchildren Paul (Karen) Hitchcock, Gary (Kari) Hitchcock, James (Cindy) Hitchcock, Dennis (Susan) Hitchcock, Brian (Alisha) Hitchcock and Janelle Johnson; 22 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived other relatives and many friends. 

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017  at the United Methodist Church in Boyceville, WI with Reverend Timothy Matthaei officiating. Burial was in the Mound Cemetery Downing, WI. Friends were able to call at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to the Unite Methodist Church in Boyceville. The family would like to thank Mary Hellendrung and staff as well as Mayo Hospice and Dr. Carrie Nelson for the special care they gave Leigh.
