MYRON “MIKE” E. MARLETT
Myron “Mike” E. Marlett, 88, of Elk Mound, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on February 7, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Myron was born in the Henderson family cabin near Connorsville, WI on April 22, 1928 to Dewey and Minnie Marlett.
He attended Schindler’s Grade School and graduated with the Glenwood City High School class of 1946.
Myron married Lyla Rognholt in Glenwood City on June 9, 1950.
Mike was a farmer, factory worker, and an over the road truck driver. He was most proud of his truck driving days. Mike would share memories of his life on the road; traveling the country to whomever would listen to his stories; and there always was a story or a memory to share!
Mike was employed by the Dotseth Truck Line for 33 years and by Holiday World Wide for 3 more years. He was proud of his achievement of driving over 4 million miles without an accident. He favored John Deere farm equipment and his many years working with the GEHL company delivering machinery to the Dakota’s, Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
Mike loved to dance, snowmobile, ride horses, swim and RV’ing with Lyla and his dog, Lucky.
Mike lived and died on his own terms-in his home with his beloved Lucky and his pick-up in the driveway. May he rest in peace.
Mike is survived by his wife Lyla; daughter Cathy (Bruce) Werner; son Randy (Sandi) Marlett; grandchildren Kelly Werner (fiancée Alice), Christopher (Becki) Marlett, Ryan (Jenae) Werner, Melissa (Nick) Howard, Allison (Eric) Heisler; and great grandchildren Maci & Emmy Marlett, Aaron & Calin Howard, Claire & Grant Werner, and Noah Heisler.
He is further survived by his sister Karen Marlette, brother Dean Marlette, aunt Lucille Marlett, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Minnie and brother Lloyd Marlette.
