EUNICE ANN STEINMETZ
Eunice Ann Steinmetz, 79 years young, died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 4, 2017, with her loving husband and family at her side.
Eunice was born on December 12, 1937, in Tilden, WI, the daughter of Veronica (Swoboda) and Albert Goettl Sr.
She married Vernon Steinmetz on May 17, 1956, at St. Peters Parish in Tilden and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. They spent the first 7 ½ years of their marriage on the Steinmetz home farm in Chippewa Falls. In 1963 they moved to their farm in Cooks Valley where they raised their 11 children and farmed. Mom finally got her new house when they sold the farm and moved into a condo in Bloomer in 2012!
Eunice was a very active member of the farm, and also did many outside activities. She was the Town Treasurer for the Town of Cooks Valley for a total of 30 years, a church council member for 14 years, a member of St. Ann’s Circle, and she also chaired the church Pork Steak dinner for 11 years. Eunice was a very active member of St. John’s Cooks Valley Church, serving as rosary leader, and singing in the choir. She spent many hours in her kitchen baking, canning and preparing meals for the family. One of her favorite activities was preparing the fabric to make rag rugs! Many people have been the recipient of at least one of these coveted gifts! She also greatly enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing bingo. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Vernon and Eunice were able to take some trips together, and some special ones were bus trips to Branson and Nashville. They also enjoyed Oktoberfest in Chippewa Falls for the past 14 years to enjoy their German heritage and listen to polka music.
Eunice is survived by her loving husband, Vernon; children, Christine (Marc) Lorenzen, David (Gwen), Douglas (Kathy), Carolyn (Brian) Prill, Colleen (Bruce) Krejci, Dennis (Cindy), Dean (Kelly), Cynthia (Jeff) Roshell, Charlene (Kent) Rubenzer, Cheri Steinmetz (Gary Opelt), Derrick (Nicole); Grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Malone, Shelley Lorenzen, Sharon (JP) Sokolowski, Tyrell and Clinton (Elsa) Steinmetz, Kelsey Steinmetz, Tanner and Bailey Prill, Heath and Hannah Krejci, Bryana (Jesse) Holtz, Lakyn and Kegyn Steinmetz, Kayla, Olivia and Sienna Steinmetz, Brenna, Bronson and Brystal Roshell, Maranda Steinmetz-Robey, Alaina, Lydia and Griffen Steinmetz; and great-grandchildren Avrie and Claire Malone, and one due in May.
She is further survived by her siblings, Clement Goettl Sr., Emily (Clarence) Meinen, Michael (Beverly) Goettl, Leonard (Kathy) Goettl, Albert Jr. (Nancy) Goettl, Marilyn (Randy) Bowe, Cheryl Stolt and many nieces and nephews.
