ROBERT D. “BOB” MARTINSON
Robert D. “Bob” Martinson, 74, of Sandpoint, ID died at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
Bob was born in Wheeler, WI on May 31, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1966, during which time he was stationed in Korea. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Caroline Ferry and they moved to Clear Lake, WI. He began working at Northern States Power Company in 1973 and retired in 1998. In 2012, Bob and Carol moved to Sandpoint, Idaho to be closer to their grandkids and continue his love for the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
His love for his family was his focus, second only to that was his love for fishing, hunting and sports! Nothing made him happier than fishing for trout in his sweet honey hole, hitting the lakes for pike, walleye, trout, and kokanee or ice fishing for buckets of perch to have a tasty fish fry. His yearly fishing trips to Canada were always something he looked forward to with his nephews, brothers, and friends.
He loved to comb the woods and hunt for the elusive deer that would always cross his path. When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, he was working in the garden, chopping endless cords of wood, and picking a truckload of potatoes for whoever wanted some.
Bob will be forever missed and remembered by his wife of 47 years, Caroline (Ferry), daughters Bobbet (Vic) Hobbs, Darla (John) Bibbo, granddaughter Melissa, grandsons Andrew and Matthew, step granddaughters Leslee and Laura, as well as his brothers Kenny (Rose), Bill (Jo), Richard (Donna), sisters Ethel (Chuck), Shirley, Gloria (Gary), sister-in-law Joan, and his cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Vera, brothers Arthur Jr., Orval (Marie), George, sisters Halene (Gordie), Velma (Clarence), and brother-in-law Harold.
Memorial services were privately held on January 4th, 2017 in Sandpoint, ID. Those who so desire to send condolences or memorial donations in memory of Bob can be sent to PO Box 1210, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
