Girls Win Walk Wager: In a conversation about walking recently, two Colfax young ladies agreed to wager that they could walk to Eau Claire in a day and accordingly they set forth on the hike last Friday at 8:40 a.m. They walked the track to Albertville, arriving at “old town” at 10:55 a.m. On leaving there, they walked a mile when they were overtaken by a car and rode about six miles. From there they walked the remainder of the distance to Eau Claire, stopping at the store at the poor farm on the way, and arriving in Eau Claire at 12:40 p.m. and partook of a 1 o’clock dinner. They won the bet, for they were allowed from 7 o’clock a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. They returned Monday and said they felt fine after the trip and were ready to walk back but the snow prevented them from doing so. Who says Colfax girls can’t walk?
