GORDON C. STANSBURY

Gordon Clifford Stansbury, age 85, of Colfax, WI passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie with hospice.

He was born January 23, 1931 in the Town of Sheridan, Dunn Co. WI to Lawrence and Clara (Allram) Stansbury and grew up on farms near Connorsville. Gordon attended Vanceburg, Best Valley and Bolen elementary schools and graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1949.

On July 7, 1953 Gordon married Gerane Hoitomt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glenwood City.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years. After returning from the service he worked for Sanna Dairies, Peterson Lumber, and Peters Meats as an auto mechanic, retiring as a machinist from Sam’s Auto Supply in Menomonie.

Gordon enjoyed roller skating in his younger years. He also enjoyed dancing, music, snowmobiling, gardening and camping with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, planting trees and cutting wood.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Gerane; four children, Wendy (Brian) Evenson, Diane (David) Olson, Kurt Stansbury, Kerry Stansbury (Rose); five grandchildren, Matthew (Allyson) Olson, Clint (Barbara) Evenson, Weston Olson (fiancé Melanie), April (Brady) Johnston, Braddon Olson; nine great-grandchildren; his siblings, Shirley Norman, Roger (Helen) Stansbury, Adeline (Willard) Tronrud, Nancy Hughes; and a sister-in-law Erna Stansbury. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Laverne and Eugene Stansbury and one sister Bonnie Yarbrough.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Brad Peterson officiating. There will be visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Vanceburg Cemetery in the Town of Sheridan, Dunn Co. WI.
