HOWARD J. HUGHES

Howard J. Hughes, age 76, of Knapp, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.

Howard was born on April 25, 1940 to Robert W and Ada (Hammond) Hughes. He was the 3rd generation to farm on Miller Hill on County Road Q at Knapp Wisconsin. Howard married Nancy (Stansbury) on February 13, 1960, and to this union they were blessed with three children.

He loved watching NASCAR on TV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and camping with family and friends. He LOVED his ice cream!!

Howard is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Edith Hughes (soul mate Duane Smith); sons Marty (Theresa) Hughes and Scott Hughes; grandchildren Jason, Amber, and Tyler Stabenow; Corey and Kaylee Hughes; great-grandchildren Brooklynn Mitchell and Carter Shenkenberg. Also many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by two sisters: Myrna Brantmeier and Deanna (Vern) Jensen and sister-in-law Flossie Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy and her husband, Robert Phillips; his brothers Bob and Milton, and brother-in-law Merle Brantmeier.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Knapp United Methodist Church in Knapp with Pastor Paul Foulke officiating. Lunch will follow at the Knapp Hall. Burial will take place at Lucas Cemetery, Township of Lucas, Dunn County. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
