ALFRED SUNDSTROM
Alfred V. Sundstrom, age 76, of Eau Claire went home to be with Jesus His Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. He passed away unexpectedly at home.
Alfred was born on January 5, 1940 to Ernst and Lillie (Tande) Sundstrom in Colfax. He grew up there and graduated from Colfax High School in 1957. He then served in the US Army, entering at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Alfred continued his education while in service for surveying and engineering. He later furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth director, and basketball coach at a Christian school. He was proud to see some of his students go on to become pastors and missionaries. He worked for the State Highway Department for a number of years before becoming a home builder and developer until retirement. Alfred enjoyed going on an Alaskan cruise with his son Joel and his wife Ronda, traveling to many places in the US, and hunting and fishing, especially in Wyoming and Colorado.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary; son Joel (Ronda) Ficke; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; six sisters, Joyce Hughes, Audrey (Bill) Gorr, Barb Mousel, Linda Matteoni, Kathy Solberg, and Laurel (Dick) Larson; three brothers, Ernst, Brian (Rita), and Savin (Kathy) Sundstrom; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; two sisters, Bonnie and Sharon; and brother, Bruce.
