12 honor students at Boyceville High School
BOYCEVILLE — The Boyce-ville High School class of 2016 has 12 honor students. Valedictorian Madison Bygd and salutatorian Peyton Hellmann are featured in a separate story. Below are the 10 other honor students.
Jenna Beyrer
Jenna is the daughter of Jodi Klinger and Tony Beyrer.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. The most memorable event that I’ve experienced in high school was during FFA week when Brian Roemhild kissed Rosie the pig.
• List your favorite high school classes. My favorite classes were Biology and AP biology because I liked doing a lot of hands on experiments and learning about the study of life and organisms.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? FFA (4 years), Volleyball (4 years), Basketball (4 years), Softball (4 years), Dance (3 years), Choir (1 year), Junior Achievement (1 year), Yearbook Club (1 year).
• What are your plans after graduation? After graduation I plan to get a summer job and show horses. I will be attending CVTC this fall for the Liberal Arts program and then I plan to transfer to a university for an undecided major.
Haley Hanson
Haley is the daughter of Warren and Amy Hanson.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. I will never forget my time spent in Drama Club. Performing on stage with my castmates was always my favorite thing to do.
• List your favorite high school classes. Choir was my favorite because I love the opportunity to sing and perform with others. Aside from choir, I enjoyed learning about anatomy and biology.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Choir – 3 years, Drama Club – 3 years, Visual Arts Classic – 2 years, National Honors Society – 2 years, Solo and Ensemble – 2 years, Science Olympiad – 1 year, BHS Football Cheer – 1 year.
• What are your plans after graduation? I plan on attending Saint Kate’s for Nursing and then going on to become a Nurse Practitioner in emergency medicine. I also hope to become an EMT next summer.
Colten Johnson
Colten is the son of Joe and Carla Johnson.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Most memorable event was when I went to the petting zoo and show the little kids all the animals.
• List your favorite high school classes. Ag Carpentry and Woodworking, because I learned how to run power tools and make cool items.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? FFA – all 4 years, Baseball – freshman year.
• What are your plans after graduation? Tech school, Oshkosh for Diesel Mechanics; summer job – construction work.
Marki Lagerstrom
Marki is the daughter of Jay and Karen Lagerstrom.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. The most memorable event in high school was FCCLA. I enjoyed this because I was able to spend time with other group members and we were able to travel to Stout and Wisconsin Dells.
• List your favorite high school classes. Advanced Art and Sociology. I enjoyed Advanced Art this year because we were able to create our own ideas. I enjoyed Sociology because it was very interesting and fun classes to be in.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Basketball (4), Volleyball (4), Softball (3), Drama (1), FCCLA (4), Student Council (4), Quiz Bowl (1), National Honors Society (2).
• What are your plans after graduation? I will be working at Peoples State Bank this summer. In the fall I will be attending UW-Stout to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.
Abby Lorenz
Abby is the daughter of Wayne and Debbie Lorenz.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. My best friend died coming home from my house. “These are the best years of your life,” said every old person that made it to adulthood and actually got to grow old.
• List your favorite high school classes. Sociology – Mr. Engel is the most personable teacher in my opinion and is very well educated. I have learned a lot from him my past 4 years of high school in and out of the classroom. Mr. Skrove classes, Mr. Knutson classes, Mrs. Debee classes.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Science Olympiad (2013-2014, 2 years), Dunn County Discovering Leadership (2014, 1 year), FFA (2012-2016, 4 years), FCCLA (2012-2016, 4 years), National Honors Society (2015-2016, 2 years), Student Council (2012-2016, 4 years), Track & Field (2013, 1 year), Volleyball (2011–2015, 4 years), Fall and Winter Dance (2012-2016, 4 years), Stats and Volleyball Tournaments (2011-2015, 4 years), Vacation Bible School (2011-2015, 4 years), Hay River Clean Up (2012-2014, 4 years), Donate to Food Drives (2012-2016, 4 years), Elderly Gift Box Program (2014-2016, 2 years).
• What are your plans after graduation? I will be attending Viterbo University in the fall of 2016 for Nursing. This summer I will be working at my job at the Neighbors of Dunn County as a CNA in the rehabilitation unit.
Samantha Merkel
Samantha is the daughter of Tony and Renee Merkel.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. The most memorable thing I ever did was participate in the Hay River Clean Up. It was fun and memorable to clean up the town while being with my friends.
• List your favorite high school classes. Sociology, AP Bio and Phys and Anat. I love learning about the body and mind. These classes will benefit me greatly as a nurse.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Dance – 4 years, Science Olympiad – 4 years, Track – 2 years, FCCLA – 4 years, Cross Country – 1 year, NHS – 2 years, Quiz Bowl – 4 years, FFA – 3 years.
• What are your plans after graduation? I will be working at Caribou Coffee this summer while taking a CNA class. In the fall I will be attending Viterbo University to pursue a degree in nursing while working as a CNA.
Wyatt Swenson
Wyatt is the son of Brent and Heidi Swenson.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Science Olympiad State.
• List your favorite high school classes. Engineering, Electronics, Chemistry, and Biology. I enjoyed these classes because they were interesting and fun.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Science Olympiad 2012-2016.
• What are your plans after graduation? Attend University of North Dakota for Chemical Engineering. After college, start a career in engineering.
Carolyn Voelker
Carolyn is the daughter of Joel and Stephanie Voelker.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Going to Ohio for Science Olympiad.
• List your favorite high school classes. Phys and Anat., because I learned a lot and we did fun activities in class.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Science Olympiad – 9th, 11th, 12th grade; Track and Field – 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade; Band – 9th, 10th grade; Discovering Leadership Dunn County Program member – 11th grade; National Honors Society – 11th, 12th grade.
• What are your plans after graduation? Go to UW-La Crosse for Computer Science.
Brandon Windsor
Brandon is the son of Ken and Sherry Windsor.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Winning the Northern Badger wrestling tournament my senior year.
• List your favorite high school classes. Sociology – I really like psychology and its related fields. AP Biology – It’s an interesting class, and Mr. Skrove was my favorite teacher.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Science Olympiad: 2012-2016; Football: 2012-2016; Wrestling: 2012-2016; Track and Field: 2014-2016.
• What are your plans after graduation? I plan on getting a summer job and raise money for college at UW-River Falls, where I will major in Psychology.
Luke Timper
Luke is the son of Nat and Ilona Timper.
• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Receiving my black belt in karate, medaling in Science Olympiad at Wright State National Invitational.
• List your favorite high school classes. Electronics, Biology, Physical Science, Math.
• What activities were you involved in during high school? Science Olympiad – 4 years, Karate – 3 years, Spanish Club – 1 year, National Honor Society, 2 years.
• What are your plans after graduation? Attend University of Minnesota, major in Engineering.
