ROBERT E. SYKORA
Robert E. Sykora, 89, of the Chippewa County Town of Howard, and recent resident of Ladysmith Care & Rehab, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Bob was born July 2, 1926, in Chippewa County the son of James and Theresa (Fasbender) Sykora. Bob attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Colfax High School. On October 17, 1950, Robert married Bernadine Bowe at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden.
During his earlier years, he drove his milk truck in the area. Robert farmed most all of his working years up to the age of 85 when he became injured on the job.
Among his hobbies were “Sunday fishing” with the Loew bunch, deer & moose hunting, and cutting wood. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family and also an occasional cold beer.
Bob is survived by his six children, Phyllis (Frederick) Siverling of Bloomer, Gerald (Lois) Sykora of Chippewa Falls, Roger (Lynda) Sykora of Colfax, Gordon Sykora of Colfax, Donna Sykora of Colfax, and Karen (Gary) Sarauer of Ladysmith; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Ethel (David) Frogner of Colfax; a brother-in-law, George Gesler of Chippewa Falls; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Sykora of Boyceville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine in 2009; a daughter, Ruth; granddaughter, Lynn Rose; sisters, Edna Butak, Lorraine Johnson, Gladys Gesler; brothers, James Sykora, Gilbert Sykora, and Glen Sykora.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Fr. John Potaczek celebrating the mass. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer where a Christian vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
