Foreign-backed third party litigation!

I know nothing about litigation or that of a third-party litigation. Looking it up in the dictionary it states: “take a dispute or claim to court.”

My attention was caught by a press release that came across my desk last Friday where the headline stated: “Foreign-Funded Lawsuits Threaten National Security,” and I had to read that release.

It was from Americans for Limited Government Executive Director Robert Romano and I will copy part of it so you can get wind of this threat.

“President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill takes action to close a loophole that the U. S. Department of Justice has warned is a growing national security threat: foreign-backed third party litigation funding.

“Hostile foreign organizations, including those from China and Russia, are giving billions of dollars for lawsuits against American companies and get access to American trade secrets during the legal process. Worse still, they’re doing it with what amounts to a taxpayer-funded subsidy. If these foreign funders get a settlement, they don’t pay U. S. taxes. That’s not just outrageous, it’s dangerous.

“Thankfully, Congress is taking action on this important issue as conservatives have rallied behind this common-sense reform. It is disappointing that a handful of self-described conservatives are siding with trial lawyer funders and defending a tax giveaway for foreign interests. Senate Republicans are absolutely right to shut down this loophole and call out the grifters trying to keep it.”

Trump, the global peacemaker

In his “Peace Through Strength” program President Trump is becoming the peacemaker of the world.

Not only did he accomplish a cease fire between Israel and Iran and is working to stop the fighting in Gaza. He also brokered a peace treaty between the Central African countries of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo putting a stop to the decades long conflict. It appears to me that he has got more things done is his five months in office than any other president has in such a short time span. I am hoping that those peace deals last.

One other thing that has happened this past week is that the Supreme Court has struck down Universal injunctions. In its six to three ruling the high court stated that lower courts lack authority to issue universal injunctions against executive orders or laws.

Romano concluded that, “for too long, courts have used universal injunctions as speed bumps to slow down a President or Congress; policies and laws, often merely delaying application of those policies and laws when they are later upheld. Universal injunctions were tipping the scales against the separation of powers and in favor of judicial supremacy, where all actions by the elected branches would first have to be submitted to unelected judges for approval before implementation.”

“Today,” Romano continued: “the Court has restored the limited judicial powers conferred under the Constitution and federal law.”

Federal Judges do not have more power than the president.
