Robert E. Carlson

Robert E. Carlson passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Bob was born November 10, 1948, to Edwin and Myrtle (Thorson) Carlson. He attended Ridge View Country School and then the Glenwood City school system, graduating in 1967. In 1971, he married Shirley Swenson, and they had two sons, Keith and Bradley. He attended 916 Area Vocational Technical Institute. In 1980, he graduated, earning a degree as an Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician.

Bob and Shirley divorced in 1976. He moved to Neenah, WI, where he made many lifelong friends. In 1989, he married Zelma Hall. 

Bob returned to Glenwood City in 2007 where he became a regular attendee of the Senior Center, participating in many of their activities. Due to health issues, Bob moved to Park View Assisted Living, in Woodville, in 2022 where he made even more friends and continued to be part of the activities there, especially BINGO.

Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger days. He also loved to collect record albums and still played them often in his apartment. He was a genealogist and historian of sorts. He cut out and collected everything related to his relatives from local papers, newsletters and bulletins and kept them in booklets.

Bob was a devote Christian and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

One of his favorite things to do was support the Green Bay Packers. He loved to watch them every week, while wearing his favorite Green Bay hats and shirts. His loyalty never wavered.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Myrtle, brothers David and Ken Carlson, sisters Phyllis Carlson, Arlene Hill, and Susan Anderson, and brother-in-law Al Anderson.

Bob is survived by his sons Keith Carlson and Bradley (Brenda) Carlson, brothers Stan (Ann) Carlson, brother-in-law, Doug Hill, and step-grandsons Thomas, Caleb and Josh Williams; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City with Pastor Timothy Matthaei officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Glenwood City Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday, October 11th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one-hour prior services on Saturday.
