Michael Eugene Slama

Michael E. Slama of Baldwin WI passed away peacefully at The Baldwin Care Center Sept. 3, 2024, surrounded by family.

Mike was born May 2, 1960 to Eugene and Colleen (Thompson) Slama in Menomonie, WI. He worked in a body shop owned by his father during his high school years in River falls. He also did auto body work for Dave’s Body Shop in Glenwood City. He graduated  Glenwood City High School in 1978. In 1979, son Jeremy Slama was born. Mike attended Rice Lake Votech for Auto Body and started working for Moody’s Chevrolet in River Falls. In 1984 he was in a car accident which resulted in him being confined to a wheelchair. He didn’t let that stop him and continued on to attend Pine Tech for Gunsmithing. In 1989, son Robert Slama was born.  While the boys were young, Mike was fortunate enough to be able to stay at home and raise them.  Once the boys were in school Mike rejoined the work force and was employed at McMillan Electric. In 1999, Mike and Sheryl (Kutzler) were married and gained a step daughter Tauna Quinn. August 21, 2024 they celebrated 25 years of a blissful marriage. He worked at McMillan’s for 24 years until his health forced him to retire. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with family and friends, having bonfires, going to car shows, making model cars and enjoyed beautiful summer days on the back deck.

Celebration of life at the Baldwin American Legion Post 240 on September 15th from 1 to 5 p.m. with eulogy at 1:00 p.m.
